Default My Mk1 Fiesta KF

ive been on this site for ages but never actually started a build thread, so being as im bored i'll start one

theres a couple of members on here that are also part of the Fiesta MK1 Forum so will have seen the car before, but heres for people who havent..

Its my 2nd Mk1, first one being a rotten 950 pop hence my username ive still got the car but its sat in a yard atm, not sure what to do with it ATM.

So i looked about on ebay, pistonheads n autotrader for another one and found this one on autotrader and decided i wanted it straight away

its a 1979 fiesta kingfisher, havent seen another one on the road, and cant find anymore on the internet so its a rare little fucker. Payed £700 for it so i was like a dog with 2 dicks
had it a year and 3 months now

Sorry about the pic size, this is the day after we brought it home -

completley original apart from an aftermarket radio and the chrome trims on the steels are missing.. i did the old "im gonna keep it standard ride height and not change a thing" that lasted a couple of days till i got bored of looking at it sitting like a truck

i then got brand new mk2 xr2 front shocks, an adjustable panhard rod from orbital motorsport, and ordered lowering springs off rally design
fronts are front ERST -1" 180lbs
rears are front ERST -1" 240lbs

this is the result -

was sitting abit more squat, and wasnt half as wobbly. Doesnt look like its gone down that much but i can only just get a jack under the engine cradle. I took those shitty mudflaps off aswell because 3 of them were split, and were creating mud traps... nice

thats the panhard rod installed, the original one was nearly rotted through

^ Standard brakes with the calipers off...

original brakes kept siezing up and were pissing me off, so rather instead of rebuilding them i bought mk1 xr2 brakes so the suspension will help it corner nicely, and will stop well too. Wont be anything great in a straight line being a 1.1 but its a gem of an engine, purrs lovely with no taps or rattles

i got the brakes plumbed in and bled a couple of weeks ago..

this is as she sits now

edited pic -

going be staying like this for a while then when ive got a fairly large bit of money i wanna strip it down and rebuild it, theres a few little bits of rust that im not happy with, and im not entirley happy with the paint. Looks mint in the pics but the bottom half has been resprayed just before i bought it as theres a lovely bit of orange peel and is a different finish overall to the top half

ive taken the foglights off the front and it now looks abit cleaner.

the next set of wheels i want are compomotive turbo remakes, seen a set on another mk1 and they look awesome. Also want coilovers for it, i'll fully polybush it and a USA spec grill would top it off

any comments welcome, dont mind abit of criticism as it may help me improve it further

cheers

Suspension bits etc are quite cheap but panels are getting very rare as they've discontinued them,

But yeah they do handle well as they're so light, about 750kg

I wanna keep it fairly original because its a rare one but I wouldn't mind a 1700xflow or maybe a zetec depending how I feel lol engine in it is good but obv not gonna be quick as such
