Good to see someone taking advantage of a great chassis! Is it a 1.6?

Craig: Not sure what difference if any the flowed MAF and TB make to be honest, it was just a mate had some going cheap so i had them and fitted them.

Thanks for the comments, i keep this thread updated or i might just stick a build thread up somewhere.

cheers dude, yeh i was giving it some out on track, felt the brakes starting to fade towards the end of the session but everything else held up ok, bit of a knocking on the front left so i'l need to look into that aswell.

i cant believe nothing came past me apart from a fully race prepped cossie and a bike powerd kit car!

Did notice you stayed right at the front. Was it oily when you were out because I went out straight after the quick shower and it was like ice and I could see a few smoking a bit throughout the morning. Perhaps might explain it a bit if they couldn't get the power down.

nope it seemed ok when i was out there, didnt really notice any oil down on the track.

Canards came from ebay and were £30, you'll be lucky to find a set for less than £100 though to be honest.

Toyo T1-R's have been alright so far, done a track day at cadwell on them and they performed pretty well for £25 a tyre!

Toyo t1-rs are worse than part worn buget tyres even in the rain and i wouldnt even have them on my car if i was paid to.

personal preference i guess, ive had various tyres over the years, prada's, avon's, all sorts and the toyo's are no worse than anything else ive used, plus there nice and cheap cant expect the world for £25 a corner.

with regards to the toyos, i had these on my old car and then on my current r5gtt, i never got on with them and would agree that they were pretty over hyped a few years ago, i changed to uniroyal rainsport 2 and its a whole world of difference so much more grip especially in the wet.

defo worth considering when the time comes

yeh i'l look into other tyre options, the reason i went for toyo's is they were cheap and instock, simple as that really.

i'l probs be putting R888's or similar when i get new ones

well another track day done, Donington Park 30th october, had a fantastic day and the car performed brilliantly over took everything i came across putting some much more powerful stuff to shame. At one time i went out behind 15 or so cars and withing 3 laps id passed the lot.
Only thing i can moan about it a lack of grip from my current Toyo T1-R's fine for the road but fall to pieces once there hot and on track, will be buying some semi slicks next, R888's? Direzza's? Yokohama's? we'll see whats cheapest!
also i feel i need abit more low down grunt top end its ok but just initial power on out the corners was lacking but i'l sort something for that, perhaps a remap or something to get more torque and abit more power.
Major downside is my GoPro packed up before i could even use it so ive got no videos, hugely P****D off with that but hopefully i'l be able to send it back under warrenty and get a replacement sent out.

Few pics ive robbed from pistonheads as i havent had chance to do anything with the few ive got.

what hp is this running, and what cars were on track that couldnt keep up.
I know its a fairly light car, but whenever i've been to track days there's been some seriously fast cars there that would blow this into the distance.

Nice car though all the same, and the puma chassis is awesome even in standard spec.

Hp figures aren't really relevant, because there aren't many tracks that you can put all your horses down most of the time. My puma is 347bhp, but on a small twisty track I'd not keep up with Jay, as my car is a fair bit heavier, so not as nimble in the corners, as well as the fact he might out brake me. I've seen a few well set up pumas do really well on track against cars with double the power. I can only put all my power down on a long straight.

as above... donington is abit of a mixed bag, the power plays a big part down the straights but you need a well balance car to get from redgate back up to coppice as fast as you can and from redgate i was pretty quick flat through hollywood and the craners, dab on the brakes for old hair pin and then straight back on the power to get the drive up the hill for mcleans.

there was alot of cars that i expected to blow me into the weeds but i kept up, and passed quite alot of it.

think a big part is that i can jump straight on the power mid corner being front wheel drive where as the guys in kitcars, bmw's, porches etc have to wait till the car has settled then get on the loud pedal to avoid oversteer.

stuff i was up agaisnts was alot of 7 style kit cars, bmw's few honda s2000's, civic type r's, just the usual track day sort of stuff.

could do with this thread being moved to projects so i can keep it updated
