Default Renault specialists on here?

Long shot...but does anyone have any experience of renaults at all?

My daily runner is a renault sport tourer 1.9 tdci on a 2002 plate. I have 2 issues which have just occured>

1. front wipers stopped working. However if the car is turned off and then restarted with front wipers on, they work for about 5 minutes then stop.If started and not on they dont work.

2. I am losing water ie after a 75 mile journey all water in header tank is gone. I have had a new red, new intercooler, new water pipes etc. There is a load of orangey coloured water stains around water header tank and when dry is like very powedery.I today put a sock over the cap and it was wet. Could this be that the seal on the cap is not good anymore and that steam is coming out? Oil is okay with no creamy colour texture showing.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Is the header tank pressuring?

Fill up the expansion vessel, literally just turn the key on the engine till it just fires up. Switc straight off. Open the expansion vessel

DO MOT DO THIS ON A WARM/HOT ENGINE

does it release pressure?

Retest but leave the cap uncovered. does it bubble like mad?

Are there any signs of oil in the water ( not water in oil ) ?

change the cap, there cheap.

then take it for a run, nothing special, open bonnet and see if hoses feel pressurised or steam is escaping from the new cap, if it is..........

try to get a "sniff test" done

if not, fixed!

wipers, its french,

sorry for sounding dim...but expansion vessel?

It does indeed bubble like mad when cap is off.

And releases a lot of pressure if the cap is on. It is so hard to turn the cap to get it off. I have turn the cap little by little to avoid water burning my hand.

Theres a loud gurgling sound when that happens.................

No sign of oil in water at all.

you need to fill with water/coolant when cold, and have a sniff test done matey

dont bother looking for mayonaise/oil in water, water in oil you probebly wont find any, regardless.

100% no external water loss?

Expansion vessel / header tank mate.

High pressure and gurgling combined with loss of coolant is indicative of head fault fella. Possibly gasket.

Davie, as someone i used to really like and respect you know when and where. I had a personal issue last year, and you put me down. I can re-post it on here of you want.Thats where the posts have been hijacked

I travel like i say extensively thorughout the UK now in my job. I wouldnt want to be putting on the mileage in my rs. And tbh, theres a few people I dont really want to know what i have now,

YET when you had an issue, i dint judge, didnt take the mickey and would have as usual suported or helped where I could.

Leave it at that. If i have upset/offended but apologies. I dont particulary trust anyone these days- especially some people on here who are nearby.
