Default Kawasaki ZX6r colour change.. FINISHED

Afternoon,

just got back from dropping my ZX6r off with Chris (Cfoster) get vinyl wrapped..

Its blue right now and in great condition and by wrapping it I plan to keep it that way but have a colour change for the time being.

Chris has done quite a few cars now but he wanted to have a go at doing a bike so mine will be the first he is attempting.

As for colour, well I've always wanted to do a white and black scheme and since the frame is already black on the C1h then it was an ideal oportunity but after seeing his SL500 I had a change of mind.

It's going to be matt grey and I have a set of replacement decals in black. Basically everything that is blue will go grey, all the black will be staying black and with the grey wheels I think it will look great..

I can't wait to see it done and I will post up some progress pics when I can get my Photobucket account sorted out but at the moment it's in his garage looking naked. He says it will be completed next week but if it takes 2 weeks I really don't mind just so long as it looks good..

As I said I will update with progress pics as Chris sends them to me and then a pic of each stage of putting it back together after I've collected it..

hope you enjoy the pics as they come along..

.... and if you're wondering the insurance co. were not bothered as it's a temporary 'sticker'. The only thing they said was that they would only put it back to the standard colour if it came to it. They did not even want to know when it was changed... just waiting now for my first pull when the ANPR check comes back with blue

before..

As I left her today..

cheers..

Also, I read the DVLA aren't bothered about wrapping as it can be undone and is 'Temporary'

It's a 2005 C1H model, 636cc.. it's great to ride, handles well from stock set up and has good power (realative for a 600) and the induction noise for 10 to 14k rpm is addictive..

I've heard both ways about the DVLA some say they aren't bothered and some say you need to register the change as it covers more than 50% of the original colour. The chap who's doing it has wrapped many cars and never had an issue. The insurance co were not bothered about it at all..

Hopefully around Ł200, Ł250 max.. That's Ł50 for a couple of meters of the vinyl (it's an expensive one apparently) and then 6 to 8 hours labour at Ł25 per hour..

He's based in Wickford in Essex so a bit of a trek for you.

Went and collected the bike at the weekend.. Took a couple of pictures on my phone before I left but I will take some more if the weather plays ball..

So here it is..

Personally I love it. There are one or two imperfections but that's a limitation on the vinyl and you can only see them when you're up close.. Overall I'm really pleased with how it came out..

I think Chris is pleased how it came out in the end but not sure if he'll be doing any more bikes.. lol..

cheers

Pics look great Martyn glad you are happy with it!! Surprisingly the panels I was worried about were easy (tank) and the panels I thought would be simple were a pain (side farings!!!). Doubt i'll be doing another one, lots of hours involved!!
