Default Fitting new wheel studs

We took my dads car to have a new tyre put on and the chap at the 'qwik fit' style garage managed to cross thread one of the nuts.. Retard.

How hard to change it then? If its easy enough im thinking about swapping them all for +10mm ones to run some spacers.

So, best way to go about it?

what car?
studs knock out and new ones slip in then pull in when tightened
bolts are more of a problem as the thread is in the hub
