Morning chaps took the car for a mot knowing it was not going to pass due to not having a cat but thought would stick the pipe up anyway and it was at 9.5% which was a big shock and I'm not to sure what could cause this it is a 1995 small turbo help please or suggestions cheers
check for air leaks air recirc valve in the turbo inlet manfold gaskets etc
common for lamda to be faulty also air temp sensors get left unplugged as does the air flow meter
it is eec4 and has live data stream get it plugged in

I gave her a fresh rebuild around 1000 miles ago or a year or so I no gaskets are good had a read of the Ecu and it had a lamda fault stuck a new one in and it's still at 8.5% so think possibly airflow metre but not sure??
you only have a basic code reader then
the eec4 has full live data stream capabilities and will show the operator all input and out put data if you have the proper equipment rather than a chinese code reader
what inlet gaskets did you use as the std ones are fine for nasp engines but not turbo
you will get a lamda fault code if the car is running that rich anyway
my advice is to get it plugged in to a proper data stream reader
i'm sure if you changed enough parts you may eventually fix it lol

yeah well its on a auto diagnose which i thought was quite good the only thing it is fine on fast idle test soon as it idles at 1000rpm percentage just keeps going up also get poffs of back smoke also on and off throttle on the road its quite harsh so this is why i think its a airflow metre but cant be sure and its 175 quid i have replaced neer on every sensor apart from airflow metre and i want to cure it by sunday for national day .

Well getting some where put few miles on her red the ecu and had lamda fault again so stuck another one In and emissions were bang on 0.452% normal for a car without a cat but on idle get some puffs of black smoke so think im going to nick my mates airflow metre of his Cossie and see what happens then let you no .
