im using the orriginal manifold and cutting and welding a t25 turbo flange i made up yesterday, ill probably be using a turbo from the 200sx as they use this flange and there are many about that are going cheap. will post some more photos up tommorow when finished welding the manifold.

you also may notice im keeping the original bolts. crazy as it may seem.. but from experience they have proven their worth..
when i had a previous 2.0 i blew a hole in the side of the engine block, the rod was bent as loui spence, yet the rods were still there.
also as it wont be reved hard i it seems unnecesary.

Do the FRS pistons fit the standard rods? I also thought the rod length was different on the RS, might affect the CR?

The proof i think needed to show that the rod bolts are strong enough to keep..
i then managed to keep driving with 3 cylinders 400metres to getmyself home with the rod still attatched to the crank..

i think your going at it all wrong tbh mate,

ok for a budget build i guess... but with price of decomp plate and 2 head gaskets and new idle/tensioners then it wont be as cheap as you maybe intended??

you would be better off just getting hold of a std focus rs stuff and drop it in what ever you want...

or use vauxhall pistons on the std rods and dont use a decomp plate?

good luck with what your doing tho!! its always good to be inventive yourself

yeah i have been uhming and ahing about what to do, i ahve got a decomp plate lined up at 40-50, i already had the head gaskets before the build.. are the vauxhal pistons the same size? if so what motor do they come from.? how much would i get them for etc..

use C20XE pistons (astra gte/gsi redtop non turbo)
they are forged psitons as std,
the block will need boring, and use new piston rings

thats the "old" way that it use to be done, but tbh im pretty sure some std rods and pistons from a focus RS could be picked up cheap enough.... and theyve been proven up to 400bhp.... (on a completly std engine with just bigger injectors and a hybrid GT25 turbo)

Got to be worth a punt!

How much would it cost to get a block bored to suit?

Cylinder head arrives in the post but has a broken exhaust valve.. seller is sending me some spares to fit, but needs a clean anyhow.

water pump housing and oil pump repainted in silver

new cambelt, tensioner and pulley.. and also QH water pump

HAPPY HAPPY focus rs pistons and conrods got them for a bargain thanks to mike from RSOC

next on the list is to finish cleaning the head, fit the new valves where broken. and rapaint cylinder head. oil sump pan. cam cover and various brackets..

update with some more photos.
still waiting on bloody valves to come in the post however, i fitted the cylinder head after cleaning it.
i fitted the manifold to check clearence of the breather box. it looked like it would be tight on space so i cut and re-welded a box to make more room..

I am still trying to get hold of a T25 or T28 turbo so if anyone is interested in selling then let me know

view from the front with the mani and head on.

breather box cut and welded.

pic of the breather box offerd up to the engine block and seems to have plenty of room..

still need a turbo guys so if you know of anyone selling one then let me know.. cheers
