Default TOTB reminder - Cosworth team

https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61975

Have had some nice cars express an interest in the Cossie team, any more for any more?

Personally, I would like to see Rod using this event to improve his times - as the publicity for him humbling some Jap stuff would be HUGE .

COME ON! Almost nobody outside the RS world has any respect for cossies anymore it seems, esp as soo many fast Scoobies and EVOs at the TOTBs these days. Its really a shame, and gets on my nerves as Cossies are quality motas.

You dont have to win to have fun and bring back the good name of Cossies, just beat down these Scoobies, EVOs, Pulsars etc! (Tho its hard as they all 10 n 11 sec cars, but do-able )

I might not own a Cossie anymore but i still love em, and gets on my nerves when people slag em off when they dont realise how fast they can be! (Its like me against the world on the GTR board when cossies get mentioned )

I do find it funny (not haha funny, strange funny) how not many people are interested when the Skyline lot have 2 teams (so 20 cars, 10 from each owners club, so 10 fast ones from the GTR Register and 10 also rans from SkylineOwners ), and at least 3 invited cars that are seperate.
The joke has already been made "Can we make it fifteen of the best" by the organiser of the GTR Register team as soo many good cars want a go...

Spiky,
So you think a T4 would give your car 170+mph and a 10s quarter ? I suggest you read the requirements rather than assuming it is the same this year as last - the game has moved on, so we have to as well .

Face it...Japs are streets ahead...no one is willing to put large dosh into an 80's throw back as it will only be ridiculed when it breaks.

The very select few who have...dont use the fockers anywhere but under extreme controlled conditions!

I will actually be entering my car this year if peeps don't pull their fingers out .

I am also hopeful that Efe can be persauded along with some other cars I have up my sleeve, so don't think that we will be letting the side down .

If Martin's car is ready, he is a DEFINITE entry . If Rod entered as well, I think we would do pretty well with just those two cars .

IMAs got a point.

IMO tho if you cant get the 10 desired then just let the best of the rest do it.

Do you think Efes car has a 10sec 1/4 in it??? I have more power and alot less weight and I don't think I would get a 10...

Mike i suspect you have moved the goal posts a little too far this year
I will put money on it that you struggle to get more than 3 cars that can meet the above criteria!

Porkie- I dont see why youd not get a 10 with the right tyres n suspension setup!

See a LOT lesser cars (not always in the UK, but some) get 10s or better...

Dont forget Martin ran a 10.6 at Santapod on not full boost and lovely Continental Rainsport Tyres!

not fast enough Don't think the Gearbox would be strong enough either...

I will ask Bernie if he thinks the box is upto it and make a decision. I have no interest in breaking 3k worth my gearbox for other peoples amusement to be honest though. Car is built for trackdays and I have never liked 1/4 or Topspeed stuff and have made no secret of that... I wouldn't mind a go a the handling though

Surely it's all about the taking part?
Do people really get that miffed by getting beaten or trying to compete against a 3ltr skyline, an 8ltr viper etc etc.
Like Steve say's surely it's the Scooby, evo and other 2.0 turbo's we should be trying to beat.
Does anyone know the spec for the other entrants??

11 seconds or better should have been for 4x4's and 12 or better for 2wd!
I don't know of any 2wd cossies that have done a sub 11 not even Rods although it could 'potentialy' do it the proof is in the pudding!

Yea, thats most peoples reasoning with Cossies, but dont seem to bother the Scoobies, EVOs, Pulsars, etc

Steve...i am gonna be blunt here...the reason the jap cars are not scared is cause they aint kids!!!..The RS scene is for yongsters...i have said it before unless you have a real passion for cossies the older generation go for more modern technology.

the following could deffo enter and make waves if they'd get linford christie's PMA(positive mental attitude )

Kev SHarp
ROd
Steve Scott's fiesta
Mike if he pulls his finger out and gets his new turbo
Phil IMA should stop being scared ffs and support the team instead of slate it even if someone else drives..
Efe
Martin Hadland

sounds like a good team to me

Phil - utter bullshit. its the other way around. all the youngsters have scoobies and pulsars and they're stupid enough to not give a shit about blowing a gearbox

all the old fookers with cossies are too sensible for that

Maybe they enjoy straightline events Steve? I don't mind risking sticking my car headfirst into a brickwall at a track... because I like trackdays! I give the engine and box death on track because thats whay I like

I am 10000% doing Glens Gt event

Porkie, if you fitted nitrous to your car and back the boost off slightly i believe you could be a really serious threat to the other 2 litre motors racing.

But fair enough if bottled throttle and quarter miles dont float your boat i guess.

Shame though mate, you're only young once after all!

You can't buy them..

I have tried... I would also be VERY worried by TOTAL lack of customer service and back up parts.

Spadge,
Well TIB did an 11s quarter with a T38 and gas, so it is not out of this world to expect others to do it if properly set up. And I class an 11.99s as an 11s run .

I know for a FACT that Rod's car is an 11s car with the right man behind the wheel and maybe even a 10s car if the current planned mods do the business .

Sadly, I think it unlikely for Rod to be willing to take part though .

However, I'm sure Neil from Carwise would be up for it, as it is on his doorstep . And please don't count out the ugly Scottish bloke(s) .
