Default 4x4 and 2wd sump

is it safe to assume you cant remove a 4x4 cos front diff and leave sump in place to run 2wd

without a mojor spill?

you wont get any oil at all unless you have an internal leak, there is no cross contamination between engine oil and diff oil

So can the 4x4 sump stay in place?
What about the through shaft?

i used my 4x4 sump when i converted mine to rwd, just welded it up where i removed the through shaft

No reason to warrant welding up the hole where the cross shaft goes, looks neater though,

Just remove the shaft and put a rubber bung in each end to stop getting crap in the speedo drive housing and bearings, or if you don't use the either then remove housing/speedo drive and bearings as well

if running t5 box wouldnt that have its own speedo drive?

T5 has its own speedo drive . There is a lad in brum with a escort Cosworth which was 4x4 but now 2wd all he did was take the drive shafts out tuck the insides of the CV out removed the frount prop and just bolted the T5 box on and it's been like that for over 2 years now
