Hi all
Took off my turbo today.
I'm am totally new to turbos so bear with me!
I was told by chap I bought car off that turbo had been replaced.
Someone has put a reference number on it with a dremel or something? Why would someone do this?
What numbers are on the standard t3 turbos? Just want to see if mine is a standard turbo?
Also is any side to side play in the shaft a bad thing?
There is a small amount of oil on the propeller on the side where the hose goes to metering unit
Cheers

A small amount of side to side play is ok, its weather there is any play in and out.
Did you have the car running at all with the turbo fitted and does it smoke if so ?
If you post a picture im sure between us we can tell you if its a standard turbo

There is no front back movement in shaft, about 1 or 2 mm side to side, the car was smokey but i only had on idle for ten mins and she had been dry stored for 8 years
