Default Breakdown Cover... Any recommendations?

Hi all,

Sorry for a bit of a dull topic. I want to sort out some breakdown cover for Me and the Mrs, we have three cars between us; a Mk6 Fez, Mini Cooper S and my Onion which (at the moment) is low with limited ground clearance.

I'm after sorting out a policy to cover all three or a 2 person 'any car' policy. Signed up to quidco to see if I could sort a bargain, but still looking at £130ish!

I'm basically after home start and national recovery just in case.... any sugggestions Anyone to avoid? Want to set this up today really...

£130 quid is about the going rate for what your after tbh

I work for the AA so may be a tad biased but we do offer exactly what your after. You and the missus can be covered on any car i.e even if you were the passenger in your mates car that would be covered

You can usually get it cheaper through your insurance company. But obviously you need to be comparing to make sure you werent paying over the odds on the insurance premium to start with

True! Flux will cover the onion for 36 quid, which is reasonable, just the others too. I have basic breakdown as part of my bank account, but it only recovers 10 miles or some such.

i went with the aa as i was in the same situation as you we have a joint policy that covers my van and 2 cars think that was around £130 home start and recovery to home. rac wouldnt cover the van on the same policy as the car and green flag were not interested as the one of the cars was too old.

equity redstar

they just use the closest recovery firm to you so your not waiting hours for an AA or RAC van to turn up to tell you you need recovering on a flatbed.

cost me £50 a year through flux

Go through Paul at Need2Insure, who deal with RAC. I got a great price off him, spot on cover

Me and the misses do our cars with Tesco. Fortunately neither of us have ever needed to call them out so i'm not sure what the service is like but it's there for peace of mind if ever we breakdown.

There's also Asda and they will also offer multi car discount i think.

how can home start be something serious? must be pretty rare. the majority of home start must be battery related. it's not often that a conrod breaks whilst the car is sat on the drive overnight is it?
