Default S1 MFI to EFI conversion???? NEED HELP!!

Hi guys need to pick some brains.........

Basically in the process of building another S1 but this time its going to be running a FRST engine for now with EFI conversion.
Need some pointers with a few things!!!

* Does the EFI system require the fuel accumulator to be fitted??

The accumulator is not fitted to the shell and if its not needed then I wont bother fitting it!

*Wat fuel pipes should I use? I have the pipe from filter to rail.

Any other points and tips for this conversion would be really useful right now!

I aint worried about the electrics as my mate is an auto sparky so can sort that side of it!

i have efi converted my s1 and i do not run a accumalator also i run the standard s1 fuel lines and i also did away with my fuel pump relay and rewire my pump fully to a efi tank with a walbro in tank pump though im led to beleive you can use the standard rs turbo tank and pump, theres not really a lot to mention,
you will however need a late mk4 escort throttle pedal with the cable drop in type not the ball clip style

If you are using an efi tank? wat filler neck are you using?
the mk4 neck wont fit will it as I have a efi tank etc but it seems I will use the mk3 tank.
Also if you are using standard s1 fuel lines, surely you must have changed the pipes as the mk3 accumulator is by the tank on the s1?
Thanx

You can use the s1 pump and tank, fuel lines to the bulkhead etc. You don't need the accumulator.
On the bottom of the fuel reg ( fuel return ) just use some low pressure rubber hose to the original steel fuel return pipe that runs under the car.
For the feed, use the original pipe under the car from the pump to the bulkhead, high pressure pipe to a filter, then from the filter to the fuel rail using the frst ( efi ) plastic high pressure pipe that screws onto the fuel rail.
You can change the ends on the high pressure plastic pipes to the quick release for ones that allow you to use the ford small fuel filters fitted to petrol mondeos, escorts, fiestas and ka's etc.

You can see the fuel line onto the fuel rail here, and if you look just at the rear behind where the pressure regulator bolts to, you can see the fuel filter on the bulkhead

The set up on my old FRST, line to pump, to filter, to engine - mounted on the gearbox

Couldn't find any more pics of the fuel lines on my photobucket, Sorry.

as gadget said, I chopped a mk4 piece where it drops in the tank and sleeves it with a mk3 filler, I then bought a metre length silicone pipe fir the tank breather,I was given a impress updated pump and it fitted lovely in the tank, make sure you have the efi pedal and cable,I only used a internal tank as I wanted to do away with the pump from underneath to make it neater and got the tank for £20 and Fuel pump given off a mate so for me it was a no brainer
