Default oil pressure gauge problem

just recently fitted stack mechanical oil press gauge and sometimes the gauge sticks at the reading even after the engine is turned off. on other occasions it doesnt budge off the mark.
has anyone else had this? the gauge not moving much above 0psi has me paranoid. im 99% its an issue with the gauge. oil pump failiure surely would mean no oil pressure full stop.
thanks for any guidance

anyone else had issues with mech oil pressure gauges. having lost one of the brass retaining olives (ferrules) i used a bit of wire aound the pipe to hold it in place (gauge end). could this cause the strange problems. im thinking the wire ive bodged is restricting the oil pipe somewhat.

You've bodge replaced the ferrule at gauge end!! :O
I wouldn't want to be in your car when that lets go!
Unfortunately ive always used electrical gauges so cant really advise. Is it a brand new gauge or second hand?

brand new stack. i think ive answered my own question. they only supply x2 brass olives/ferrules and i lost one. if its the gauge im not too worried. i was more concerned about the oil pump been the culprit even though evidance points to my bodge!! tbh its was a tempory bodge which needs rectifying asap. have had trouble sourcing the fittings. your right, fucking lethal really.
