Default Anyone driven / own an Evo X?

A guy at work is looking at buying an Evo X, has anyone got one or driven one? Think he is looking at an FQ300 or 330 SST? Any experience on the gearbox, sounds quite impressive looking it (im bias as I like autos!!). What they like overall? Looked on MLR but not a good site for honest opinions!!!! He's not into trackdays and hooning about so not after anything completely raw, he just wants a comfy(ish) good looking reliable nippy motor......

Cheers

I know the SST gearbox can not take big, so if did have ideas of moddifying in the future then the manual gearbox will be the best option

I've heard the sst has a fairly weak gear box if tuned and are alot harder to sell on than a manual depending on how much he wants to spend I'd say a mk2 frs is a better car if not a tad max power.

My mate has the FQ360 EVO X..................AWESOME bit of kit

Very nice place to be inside with the trim and the Rockford Fosgate system as standard. Will drive along very nicely normally then become a complete loonfest once opened up.......

Proper bit of kit.....

Timing chains are becoming a problem on some, so worth knowing.

Not remotely useful, but when they came out around the same time as the new Impreza hatch I thought they both looked awful. However, the EVO's are really growing on me... specially sitting low on some Rota Grid/GTR Drifts.

Cheers,
Grant

Have 2 mates with evo X one has a fq360 lovely car. The other a GS300 currently being built by Matt & The racing line to 800bhp, Also driven a sst 330 Handle very well for a heavy car and I would say IMO the best Evo out the box for the overall package. much better than a 9.

If your going SST they only come in 300 & 330, there tunable but big £££ to do it.

Also it's recommended they have a rod job as some earlier 08 spec have this issue. once done plenty of scope for BIG BHP, Things to look out for weak chains as mentioned, Maf's tend to go, Upgraded Fuel pump relay, warped discs, gearbox fault's can be checked scrolling the screens on start up.

For the money I would go for a 360, Here 2 of my mates on Rota's

fq360

GS300
