Default Turbine housings and nitrous...

Hi all,
Has anyone used a large A/R exhaust housing on their Cosworth engine and nitrous? I'm wondering what size turbine housing would be ideal for maybe a 100hp shot? .82?, .86? or even bigger?
I've currently got a .63 but i'm thinking it's gonna get choked up top.
Anyone got any info.?
I know tony@turbosystems has a huge amount of expertise and is always helpfull, maybe he could tell some of the problems he ran into yonks ago when he fitted umpteen kits onto yb's, i'd be very gratefull as possibly would others who are contemplating this kind of modification.
Cheers.

Do you know how much N20 costs to run? Mega expensive even for the impressive power gains!

we used it in the 80's and had pectel do some software to control it via the l6 ecu
basically we used it to spool the turbo upto 15 psi then it switched off
we also has an override button to switch it on all the time though
POWER POWER POWER lol

Hi Tony,
I hope you'd chime in, i don't suppose there would be any chance of you doing a write-up about your experiences? problems, what kind of turbine housings suit what, modifications to the injection side of things, static timing, were best to fit the injectors etc etc.
Info. is rather thin on the ground regarding actual hands on experience regarding nitrous and the yb and in Italy...forget it, no chance of any info. 'cos there are virtually no cossys left..and i don't think anyone fitted anything like N20 onto a yb mill.
Anyway, if your up to it and have a bit of spare time i know it'll be a very interesting read!
Thanks.
Luckly for me money isn't a problem as my car is rarely used and filling up the bottle is only E40 for an 11lb bottle.

the installation is simple if you only wish to use it to remove the lag and spool the turbo, a simple nos wet kit will do the trick
your ignition map will need to be specific for nos though in particular low manifold pressure points will need examining as you will now see boost earlier and it is here that your engine may det if it was mapped for a turbo as most are as well as the cylinder pressure increase due to the nos will need to be taken into consideration
You can make the system complex with nos controllers but this is unnecessary just for lag spooling
Multi map ecu's are better but the weber can be hooked up to apply retard using the lead free loom these are set by default at -2-4-8 ecan alter these specifically but the -4 bridge should do
Choke out of the turbine is an issue if you intend to try and add a 100 +nos across the whole rev range
what is your design brief

Like everything else Nitrous system have moved on in the last 10 years.
Dont use a system with Solnoids as they cant be controlled well electronically, use a Pulsoid system like WON.

Mines a 1.06 & we have used 200bhp jets boosted by 1500psi Nitrogen push. It uses a 4 fogger system with a Controller so 60% start up to 100% in 1.6 seconds. The ECU controls it with 97% throttle being the start point & switches it off 100rpm below the limiter you can control it as you wish. We have perfected it over a 10 year period. It gives a Torque boost about the same as Power .
A heater will be required if 'push' is not used as pressure drops alarmingly.

The system below will do everything you want with full control.

.63 housing on what turbo mate?

If you mean a T34, that housing is more free flowing than the compressor side of the turbo anyway essentially, hence how little power difference there is between a .55 exhaust and a .63, so you still have a fair bit of headroom for more power, especially as obviously a lot of it will now be going down the wastegate anyway to prevent excess boost.

100bhp of gas on a T34 YB is a fabulous thing to drive but the trouble is the gas is expenive and its very addictive.

How quickly do you get through nitrous using it in an anti lag setup?
I know it depends how hard you use it but say on track constantley hammering it.

Right guys, excellent info!
My car's unfortunatly not a cosworth of any kind, it's a 2.0 Vw twincam engine that i've turboed. I fitted a compleat Weber/iaw injection set-up off various cars and mixed and matched the hardware, my latest stuff is actually 1 of your chips tony made for Flannegan's green 3dr! the chips work fine but the sierra eeproms sometimes have a few flat spots that weren't present when using an eeprom off a Lancia delta int.
All the nitrous gear is WON including the bottle warmer, thanks rod for that diagram, very good stuff!
My car's turbo is a ball-bearing cartridged Garrett T04Z, .70 cold side and either .63 or .57 hot side, full 3 inch exhaust, modded head, cams, forged pistons, 7.8/1 cr, forged h-section rods, steel 3 layer head gasket, ARP head studs external 38mm Tial 'gate, 1000cc rochester injectors and either Weber L8 chipped ecu or Pectel 8 injector ecu running 8 385cc orange Bosch injectors, charge cooler with huge front rad. and shit original 285mm brakes!
The huge problem i have is that no one can remap the Pectel hardwere here in rome, half the silly fookers haven't even heard of it...
I'm very seriously considering getting my ride live-mapped down in the uk either by turbosystems, stuart sanderson or someone else who know Weber like them.

before you fit nitrous i would map the ecu first
running a chip mapped for a yb cosworth is not correct for your engine spec
