Smile What a difference.....wish I had done it ages ago

I have just finished fitting all new VITON seals to front end of engine (Stage 3 Sapphire 4x4) and fitted yet another cam belt when I took the time to align the rotor arm EXACTLY to the mark on the dizzy by removing rotor and used the slot on top of dizzy drive instead. WOW didn't know it was so important (my thanks to Tabetha) now my car has really come alive.........

More power all across the range including off boost
Spools up earlier and slightly more boost without touching actuator
Much better idle
Better fuel consumption (slightly)
Better low speed driveability
Much quieter
Best of all it solved my cam belt problem where it was stretching when hot and eating belts. The car was obviously running retarded and hotter so more expansion of head, too tight cambelt..................better than that NO oil leaks thanks to VITON and put a breather in cam cover as well as all the others.

Super pleased

Sounds good .. So instead of aligning dot on rotor and mark on dizzy , you left rotor off and aligned with cut out on shaft ?? Was there much difference in position dizzy was in ??

Thats right as you cannot actually see the mark on the dizzy as the rotor arm is in the way and the inlet manifold. I am guessing I moved it between .25 and .5 of an inch, now others on here say that the car wont run if it is too far out and that the ECU takes over, but it worked for me its great

As said above you cannot actually see the mark mainly because of the inlet tube on No. 1 cyl so I was sort of guessing the mark was in the middle of thr brass bit of rotor arm

this was discussed ages ago and he is definitely not coming back

he went on a wild one and gave a load of abuse to mods and even the owners of the site, so even they don't want him back, even if we wanted to, not like chop

There was the whole poly steering bush saga which was lucky one of those bushes didn't cause a crash.
And he was anti wasted spark and closed loop and thought grey injectors were the best available for a Cosworth!

Ok fair enough, I'll get back to rattling on about how well my Cossie is going. I feel like never messing around with it again as they say "If it aint broke don't fix it"
