thought id start a thread for my new little project.
an r32 gtr skyline.
picked it up as a non runner on sunday.

it did run but really badly mega rich and fluffing terrible.
so i made up a fitting for the air filter and pressurized the system to check for any air leaks

has a massive air leak somewhere will not build any pressure at all, i havnt found it yet need to get it on the ramp and check from underneath next.
the engine and gearbox have only done 1300 miles since complete rebuild with je forged pistons and new garrett 2860-7 twin turbos capable of 560 hp max.
a couple of pics of the car in the workshop

the car has a veilside exhaust in the pictures above but i got a hks silent hipower with it aswell so i fitted that as it has 2 silencers, the veilside had middle box removed and was too loud it sounded shit imo.
exhaust i fitted :

and thats as far as ive got since sunday.

well been busy today fitted the aem wideband, checked the turbo timer and it works runs on for 1, 3, or 5 minutes dependant on setting.
and ive dug out the rust at the back arches, wire wheeled it and kurust treated it, then primed it ready for fillering tommorrow
the pictures have come out backwards lol start from the bottom, second pic up i tried a trust copy fibre glass rear spat but there shit imo so im just gonna put to standard with nismo lip.

aside from the rear arches it is a really nice shell for 21 years old, the arches had filler in so has been repaired to a high standard in 2004 i suspect before import.

got the rear arch holes blanked off with screwed in alloy plate and mesh, fillered and sanded then final skimmed, just gotta sand tommorow morning then start painting hopefully.

the car wont take long at this rate, i probably spend 2 - 3 hours a day on it between heavy equipment repair jobs it ties in quite well tbh.

Good luck with your new project - I love these - alot of bang for your buck there.
Cracking colour too..
Secretly always fancied a Skyline engine in my 3dr - if the V8 doesn't work out then a GTR engine will find it's way in!
I look forward to seeing your progress.
Cheers

well what an eventful morning, primed the arches and a pic of my ramp wheel free, i love it its a 4 poster then runs wheel free like a 2 poster

then remasked it up to blend base coat, i found what casued the rear right back bottom arch rot it was full of yen lol

and wheels on, its by no means perfect but will stop the rot and tidy enough for its purpose

but the main thing is it starts and runs idles at 14.7 warm, it had blown a dump valve blank out from inside the bumper ! very difficult to see it but i found it blanked it off and its running and fueling perfect sat in the barn idling and revving.
just need the paint to fully set then il run it up the road, oil pressure is 2 bar hot idle, 6 bar from 4k revs up so looks good for stock oil pump.

well ive just got in, ive set the tps to idle, had to rasie idle to 1150 rpm otherwise it sometimes stalls when coming of the throttle as it has a dump to atmosphere dump valve, they dont like them for some reason, it goes mega rich when it dumps air out as its looseing air the mafs have seen.
gonna leave going above 1 bar boost til its on the dyno in proper controlled conditions and checked for det.
scrubbed it for an hour as the paintwork literally felt like sandpaper lol

i thought that to but i was on the dyno monday getting it mapped and the dyno cell was 34 degrees, inlet temps peaked at 48 degrees so 14 degrees above ambient shows an efficient intercooler, will work even better on the road.

just remembered to update.
i went to mgt racing monday.
they hard wired the fuel pump so it gets constant full voltage.
checked base ignition timing was 4 degrees retarded.
got on the dyno and it would spike 1 bar but drop to 0.6 bar and get in the high 9s afr and misfire at 7k rpm !
i thought my greedy bleed valve was making funny noises so i asked if they had a bleed valve and they did a tomei one, so i fitted it and vwalla boost on setting 1 was 1 bar, setting 2 was 1.4 bar spike, 1.2 bar held but fuelling was still well over and only made 270 hub power !
so i got out my new power fc and garth commenced mapping, after a few hours we finished at 416 rwhp at 1.2 bar ! air flow meters almost flat out within 0.2v 550cc injectors at 80%, dyno cell temperature was 34 degrees ! acts maxed out at 48 degrees so prooves the stock intercooler is still well upto the task.
we could have tried more boost but needed to leave a bit of headroom in airflow meters and injectors as a cool day will reguire more fuel for the extra air, i went with 400+ whp in mind so im happy.

it is a completely different car to drive now, it slightly torque steers now in first and second gear as it should.
ive got the air con rad and pipeing fitted just needs pump fitting now.
fixed oil temp gauge and cigarette lighter.
shes getting close for some gtech testing
its not as quick as my old one but its not far behind, the gtech will tell all soon

so ive took it off and ordered some different options of plate
i had a 12" x 3" here 5 digit, and a stock rear plate so i tried them on

full size plate at the bottom is a no no for me it just looks soooo shit.
i like the 12" x 3" it looks awesome but to small and a puller i guess.
so ive ordered a 12" x 6" that is fully legal, and a custom 14" x 4", now im hopeing the 14" x 4" will have legal size lettering but i wont know for sure til it gets here.

lol they are in nuneaton which is 75 miles away from me, if theres anything ive learned its that in tuneing distance is irrelevant, company reputation is far more relevant.
take the guy i bought my car from, it seems to me he trusted a local garage down the road from him and they diagnosed my new car as needing minimum £2500 spending on it to fix it, they couldnt even diagnose a boost leak and thought the ecu, injectors, fuel pump and loom where at fault

mileage is irrelevant for me
