Valve Clearance On 1.8 TDDI 90ps ???
SO.......
Managed to snap the cambelt on my second engine this year, the first engine that I installed died due to oil pressure issues but that is ebay for you.
On removal I noticed that one exhaust valve needed replacing, the rest were fine and did not hit quite as hard, so I spent the day today lapping a new one in.
luckily (NOT) I managed to drop a couple of buckets and have mixed the shims up. Therefore tomorrow I will be gauging and micro-metering the lash (gap) between the loebs and shims and doing some maths.
Does anybody know where I can find what the tolerance is for the lash???
Would it be better to take note of each measurement and then work out an average between them all ???
Final note- anyone who thinks the easiest option to replace a cambelt on 1.8 TDDI, without removing the engine mounts, is to snap a piece of the cam cover off is REALLY REALLY MISTAKEN !!!
