Guys who's got coilovers on their series 2? Need abit of help as I've got some gaz ones to fit and can't seem to work out how the rears fit into the turret. Do you use the bush from the original damper sleeve on top of the top hat of the coilover or just put the metal cup on the top hat then fit it up into the strut? Any help appreciated. Nick.

 

i fitted mine with the cup on top of the top hat, otherwise it wont seat right in the bush

i hated the fitment of mine, plus the top hats were too tall so i couldnt get the car low. i had custom shoter top hats machined, that let me go low, but the fitment was still shocking, and my wheels rubbed the coilover spring, so i soon flogged my rear coilovers on and just stuck with the fronts

spose it depends how low u wana go, what size wheels u run, and how much the bad fitment annoys u lol

 

I'm gonna be running 205 40 16 tyres and I'm not bothered about going silly low just 25-30mm

Im sure i read you had to get a kit to put them on seperate like the original strut and spring.. But then they are still adjustable with the damping bump and rebound.

 

Don't you have to weld the rear turret tops as they are not load taking from the factory... Ive heard afew people putting their coilovers through the tops over hard bumps!

 

I'm gonna be running a rear strut brace which is more than enough but its just the way they fit that puzzles me.

 

Anyone got any pics of these fitted?
Ive heard various stories over the years about people getting grief when fitting these?
Was looking at getting some in the future but depends if its worth the hassle???

Thats very interesting as I have read of people having them break through?!

 

I've been told off a few people on here that the welding isn't required and they had been running them for years.

There you go, i wouldnt chance it personally as i use my car to transport 3/4people around quite alot.

rear turrets dont need welding

 

mines had 5 in it and been full in boot too several times and never had a problem with them and had some hard abuse full loaded

 

Maybe the people that cracked or split the rear turrets were unlucky then... Or their car were rotten in that area!?

 

to be honest i've heard youdo and don't argument i run them abuse my car carry 4 people to and from shows etc etc and don't have issue's as roger says unlucky or the cars not 100%rust free
