Good for 259bhp

It's not the bhp it's the increased torque causing the slippage

Have heard of people using Focus RS clutch in STs.

Mine did exactly the same mate.
Pressure plate ain't that strong. RS kit will see you right. I had to fit one to mine.

id normally change the flywheel with the clutch, but if its had an easy 28k then you could chance just fitting a clutch kit, the RS clutch will fit on the ST flywheel, of look out for a second hand RS clutch where someone has upgraded.

Its alot of labour charge if not doing it yourself for the flywheel to turn out to be no good when the clutch is changed so what I did was RS clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and new release bearing.

This will cost under Ł1k all in

cheers for the feedback. The car is still under warranty from the ford garage i bought it from so i think i will de tune it and send it back for inspection. Think i read somewhere that 07/57 reg clutches can cause isuses is this true?.

When mine did it I rang and asked Dramacience and they asked if mine was a 2007 model and said its common for that year of car to slip.

If you take the car back 'de-tuned' and they test it before inspecting the clutch and it doesn't slip, they will more than likely be reluctant fitting a new clutch FOC, for no apparent reason.

Also, if the new clutch they fit is standard ST unless there has been a later uprated revision, it will surely slip when you add your map to it?

I have not tryed it de tuned so no idea if it slips or not, I would be testing this first before taking back.
I think there seems to be a prob with 07/57 plate cars having week clutches so there may well be a revised/uprated version.
Montune make a ford approved 260bhp upgrade (exhaust I/C and remap) still using the standard ford clutch.

2007 plate cars had a slightly different clutch from the earlier ones. Story goes Ford put a better clutch in the earlier cars but customers complained of a heavy clutch. They changed the clutch in 2007 along with a slightly different intercooler, some interior tweaks (different colour illumination, different shape head unit) and also fitted black headlights rather than the chrome style ones (few other small tweaks as well as these but not major).

The clutch fitted to 57 onwards are different again. As for standard replacements - I would imagine it would be of the later cars type.

Personally - if you tune the ST chances are eventually you will need to upgrade the clutch - no different to tuning other cars.
