Default Honest Turbo advise please...

Ok, In my search for 380-400bhp in my 2wd saff im aiming for the following spec:

Standard 205 block and head recently rebuilt
BD14 Inlet Cam and Verniers
4x4 Inlet Plenum
Siemens 55lb Injectors
044 pump
Full 3" exhaust
Air filter
500 cooler
Ally rad

Now then, I was going for a T34.48 with a chip to suit...... BUT...... A friend of mine who broke his cossie a year ago has a GT30 and will let me have it for a decent price.

My question is... Will a GT30 be overkill for my spec, or will it do a job?

Cheers Billy

IMO it is a bit overkill for your BHP goal, but I'd be interested to see what the actual difference in spool speed between a T34.48 and GT3071 was... does anyone know when each will make 1bar of boost on a 2.0 engine??

Cheers,
Grant

This is what I mean. I know a GT30 is probably a bit overkill, but how much difference will it really make?

The GT30 is a massive over kill, you really need to stick with a decent well specced t34 or maybe a T38, even this is over specced for what you are looking for. I would suggest a GT28r, amazing spool up and pretty much good for the power you are looking for

turbo technics t35 400bhp £650
or their t36 440 bhp £695
these are a t34 frame turbo
a t34 with a .48 turbine housing will not make 400 bhp

If it's still spinning on 235 R888's, you need to get your rear beam sorted

quite spoilt for tracks here in southern spain, got ascari 1hr away 2.5 with trailer.jerez 1hr, quadix 4hr, portimao takes 7-8 with trailer, jarama in madrid as well thats about the furthest ive been.the best for me is portimao.the facilites are amazing.the track fucking massive over 4miles long and theres plenty of run of space if you get it wrong and portugal is dead cheap well apart from fuel which is a fucking joke there.

heres a video from Ascari from the other yr,got third fastest time in rwd class in a timeattack event held there

its got just about everthing else, could do with a better rear suspension as got avo rd sport springs /shocks at the moment as the cars progressed from a rd to track so yeh theres a few things left, but misses is nearly 7 months preggers so my shit will have to wait for a while now, any ways it always a good reason to go to the garage
