Ive now done the msd advised link on back of 2 rev counter and neither works
Anyone got 1 that actually works on coilpack?

Have you joined the (2 green IIRC) wires on the coil?
Can you put a pic up of the rev counter mod? Still got to do mine and can't remember what needs linking to what on the PCB

Will do when I get the chance
What green wire mod,and what diode mod?
Msd instructions just show the mod on back of rev counter
Ive done it to a 4x4 counter, didint work and I have a 2wd saph 1 but the rear of counter isnt the same so cant try the mod
Did someone just say there, that theirs worked without the mod?is there any point me trying the other 1
Cheers

It would probably be best to wait till someone like Stu@MSD or James@MSD pop a correct answer on here, rather than my flakey memory trying to help!
Basically to get the rev counter working there were 2 mods to do, one was bridge two tracks on the printed circuit board on the back of the rev counter - sounds like you have done that.
The other was to join together 2 green coloured wires that used to plug on top of the coil - without them being joined there would be no feed to the rev counter.
On my Escos which had this conversion partially done, the green wires weren't joined, and I guess the rev counter mod wasn't done.
I joined the green wires and then for whatever reason had to drive the car before doing the rev counter mod, weirdly it worked, and I think it read correctly. Only drove the car once, then took it off the road for a few weeks, then when I came back to it the rev counter is dead as a dodo. At the very least I think I need to do the rev counter mod, but I may have buggered either something in the ECU or the rev counter itself.
I'm not sure what the joining of the tracks on the printed circuit board does, so if anyone does know an explanation would be reet good

[QUOTE=onslack;5882542]id like to know this as well!
i tried the msd instructions, but the rev counter i have is different to the one pictured in their instructions so we left it
[/QUOTE
The instructions show a 4x4 1,i have 2wd clocks aswell and totally diffrent on the back and you cant do it

Hi Tomo,
Yes, as per the instructions you need to connect the greens from the coil together as they are the tacho signal that used to go through the old coil wiring.

ive got the exact same problem with mine, however i think its an early msd driver in the ecu, the rev counter wouldnt work as it was, i tryed the 4x4 clocks didnt work, tryed the mod on the pcb and didnt work, ive managed to get the early type clocks to work by wiring the tacho straight off pin 26 but only runs half speed, wont run at all of pin 21, the SECS monitor will only ran at half speed too
was going to try the diode mod but has anyone got any pics of how to do it? i know the diode wiring diagram only i dont know what wires the diodes are ment to come off!

The diode mod works from both sides of the coil then connects to the green wire back to rev counter. As a side note have you removed the capacitor from the old ignition circuit as this isn't needed either
Yes the instructions I had with my wasted spark conversion showed the 2 outer wires of the coilpack being connected to the green wire returning to rev counter with the diodes connecting them together, can't remember exact circuit as not got instructions with me
For the record I have been to MSD for a livemap and wasted spark etc on my old Saph and it was well worth the trip
