Default Vaccum hose to Ecu question

Hi all, what is the purpose of the vaccum pipe going to the ecu?
Is it just So the ecu knows when to turn the amal valve on/off?
If so im not using amal, i running a bleed valve so i could get rid of that hose as its one less potential air leak?
Thanks

Yes otherwise the ECU will not see any boost/vacuum and adjust the timing accordingly..... Detonation and a dead piston or two would be the result!
