turbo shopping.
hi, the time has come to get myself a new turbo for the rebuild and after some pointers on specs etc.
current engine is a 1600 cvh low comp with big valve head 285t2 cam and grs twin pass fmi. looking at running 20 psi so would a stage 2 be too restrictive or would i be better off just dealing with a laggier stage 3. then there`s comp wheel sizes?? 55 or 60
lastly the actuator, would a -34 be best choice as looking at 15 stg1 then up to 2o stg 2.
cheers.

well i wasnt really chasing figures. but i just bought some vxr injectors running on cossie pressure reg 3.5bar iirc so if they give up at 230 i'd be happy with that. unsure as ti whether my current engine spec is to mix matched to run the less laggy stg 2?
that doesnt sound too bad to be honest. only 600ish rpm off std. but with mine being low comp would imagine it'll be pushed a little further up the rev range.
not on a 1.6 mate. however i have serious doubts the engine will take a hammering for long. basically i fucked up choosing my engine spec. going for what everyone else seemed to be having instead if sitting down working out what i want it to drive like and what i need for it.
now i've got a laggy engine and dont want much lag if you know what i mean. which is making me wonder if i can claw some drivability back by putting a turbo on that will hit the boost i want earlier but how will the smaller exhaust housing fair to the rest of my engine. which in turn makes me think i should just bang a stage 3 on and done with it.

If youve got a laggy engine (low comp etc) i'd stick a stage 3 on it and make use of the top end power... You can always choose a gearbox to suit your requirements speeds wise.
