Default Help cosworth won't start.

Right I've converted my 3dr to L8.. Wasted spark anti lag and launch control... Gone to start and it won't fire...everything has been done properly... When I flick the key I get a bang from the wasted spark... Then nothing... Could this be chip related... Has everything is done properly...?

Cheers Mat.

I am sure you woulden't have, but you haven't used your L1 chip have you? (Kind of impossible as well seen as it can run Anti-lag)

Dosen't sound good though with it "Banging".

No mate new chip fitted... When you turn the ignition on it makes a quite bang down the exhaust.. I've got spark and it seems the fuel is there but won't even fire or start.

Thought as much, the backfire seems to be a common problem with the WS conversion, do you have the correct TPS and inverted the outer wires?

CTS connected correctly, and pump priming on ignition? (The answer will almost certainly be yes to the latter due to the fact you say you have fuel)

Did you also remove the capacitor from the old coil wiring, other than that you have got the phase sensor and crank sensor plugs the right way round as well.

Are the plugs wet? I would imagine it's just one slight wire etc in part of the conversion that is amiss. Have you gone through it all again?

Have you got the extra wires in the correct plug terminals as I think you use different if with or without aircon on L8 as car it came off may have had aircon, just clutching at straws really but hopefully something simple that's got mixed on installation, also does rev counter register while turning over.

The wires I mean are the 2 extras you put in the ecu plug, make sure they are same as added wires in ecu, also make sure new wires in ecu plug are fully home and making a connection. I am pretty sure rev counter should move a bit when cranking.

When i had this problem it was the wasted spark board.

Are you 100% sure you've soldered the board in correctly?

the additional wasted spark board is not eprom dependant ie you can fit the board to any cossie weber ecu even a standard one with a standard eprom

My original board supposedly came from a working car, but was goosed

Quick way to prove everything else is to put the coil back on the car. You only have to desolder 2 wires off the ECU IIRC.

If it starts, that proves the ECU/Chip/sensors etc are fine and its the board at fault.

This is how i fault found mine.

Give me two mins and I'll find out what wires need disconnected.

Post #11 on this thread, least that'll help you fault find.
