Default My new car - It's Mapped :)

No its not a Ford Yes its a BMW but not an M3 or M5.

535D Sport. I love it

Excuse the I-Phone quality pics.

Couple of questions already

1) Does my car have the siwrl flap issue?

2) Is it worth remapping? Have spoken with Chip and Jim G before and they say it cant be done the normal way via the OBD plug.

Anyways few pics for you:

272 bhp and 415 lb/ft or something silly as standard. Does go well indeed and was over 45mpg on the motorway on Sat. I know round town it will be quite shit in all fairness

3 litre. 6 cylinder twin turbo

Yes it will have swirl flaps and they are about Ł50.00 for the blanks and about a two - three hour jobs to fit them, whilst doing this its worth while doing both of the thermostats and cleaning out the egr valve.

As for a remap, yes they can be mapped, mine was done by Jason at BMWchiptune as he runs an X5 regularly at the POD with some interesting results.

Mine is sat at around 350bhp and over 500lbft of torwue and still manages over 40 to the gallon. Its also worthwhile speaking to Jason about removing the DPF as they can block and cause issues but still pass the MOT even with a gutted one. I know cause mine did last weekend.

If you wanted to listen to an IPOD then a Dension GAteway 500 is the way to go as it means you can have the IPOD in the glovebox and control it through the IDrive.

I work in Reigate so if you wanted to come and see mine with the Dension kit or drive it with the remap yopu are more than welcome to.

PMW in Essex will do it for Ł175 all in.

They are probably the best to use as they supply a lot of the blanks that other people use.

Nice car...
I always have liked them since see one on topgear afew years back, they certainly seem to go well after seeing afew roaring around on the roads near me.

PMW are good guys, Pete (the owner) can come across abit funny but they look after the cars well enough. The current team there are made up for 2or3 ex BMW master-techs, so the car will be in good hands!

If only they were alittle cheaper as then i could consider one! Let us know what its like if and when you get it re-mapped!

They can be remapped via the OBD by the dealer downloading the original map and then either altering the values themselves or most likely sending it off to the remapper to do remotely. It is then sent back and uploaded on to the ECU.

I went directly to Jason as he his highky thought of in the BMW world and also has other remappers who send him the files for him to work on.

Because you either have the money to do so or you still have some passion left for tinkering with Cosworth's. I lost my passion and relaised there are better things to spend my hard earned on lol

Both I guess. It's been 2.5 years since I used it due to various little things(like having child 4 LOL ).

I'm sure somethign will break and I'll soon be fucked off again!

Just got off the phone to my local BMW place. Was asking about servicing. I feel like a right numpty now. You dont worry abut servicing until the car tells you it needs it. Condition based servicing they call it. Depends how heavy your right foot is the girl on the phone said. Gone are the yearly or x amount of miles servicing that used to be in place i assume?

Correct mate, all can be seen from the Idrive's service menu.

Tells you all you need to know and can even have when the MOT is due input as well.

Has yours got the Harmon Kardon stereo with the subs under the seats as well?
