Series 1 side wing indicaters whats the score??
I'm changing the wings on the Series 1. It had side indicaters but the new wings don't have the holes. I don't particually want the side repeaters but do I have to have them with the series 1? is there a law on age of cars having side repeaters? Seems most b-reg series 1's don't have them?
..also the existing side repeaters, without them will the indicaters flash quicker as if one of the bulbs has gone out (not sure if the series 1 had that advanced technology
)
Cheers

So do I have to have side repeaters if I had them before legally?
To stop the bulbs flashing quicker could I cut the bulb holder off and strip the wires back and join them to close the loop or would that blow a fuse?
I'm not convinced my series 1 originally had side repeaters anyway as the hole was perfectly round and the indicaters where siliconed on.

i dont think it will matter, if 1985 c reg pass MOT's then i am sure a 1986 one will,
they only put approx year car was first used on MOT's certificates which will be
1985, i am not sure about the twisting of wires together,
have a look at your V5 as it will state whether its a 85/86 and you will know
whether it originally has indicators or not

the bulbs wont flash quicker as its on the same circuit
if your car was registered on or after 1st january 1986 it has to have side repeaters
my car is 1986 on a c but i tell the mot its a 1985 car so i dont have to have them on the wings

If you join the wires it will blow the fuse.
Try it without the bulbs first and see what happens. Most early cars ignore the side repeators if they blow a bulb and flash a normal rate.

Hi
It sounds as if your indicators were added at a later date. And as Nigel b stated if the car was first registered before Jan 1st 1986 then it dose not need them and should not have them.
My first S1 had them and I changed them for a pair of small oval one’s they looked really good.
It’s your choice if you want them or not.
