The mk2 FRS is an awesome car, I still like RST's but the new focus RS is in a different league!

I had a blast with a green one on a dual carriageway to ford fair my car was 24-250bhp side by side was edging on him every gear. Big fan of the focus rs had one for a while and i have to agree which one id prefer to go home in, very comfortable 6th gear on the motorway stress free motoring

Hi Mo!

I Seriously doubt he was trying, either that or it was an R32 rep, race a real one, or one that trys to race, trust me it will rape you

R32's aren't that fast, mk5 GTI will keep up with one in a straight line...on the twisty's its a diff story.

think about it...240bhp std, 4wd twice the transmission losses a 2wd car has, plus the weight...any decent 200bhp car will keep up with one np.

As standard R32 will have a fucking hard time against a 200bhp rst. No doubt about it. Obviously if you throw in a few corners its a different story.

I'm not particularly biased either, i may own an rst but i've driven plenty of quick cars.

Although I do like the old escorts and driving them, the focus would prob make it home in one piece

If i remember correctly the mk2 FRS has limited power in first 2 gears, then full power for the rest to save the gearbox.
Also has launch control as well, with clutch in and first selected it holds at 3800rpm.

I agree with that one mate, I've driven an 03 R32 up to about 100mph and it got there very quick there's no way my rs would keep up with thatand that's a fact.

That's not launch control, it's just there to stop you lunching the driveshafts on a full bore take off My ST does it as well.

I used to work at VW, and i didn't find the r32 that quick at all... I would put money on a standard focus st beating one tbh.
Its certainly not in the same league as a 200bhp 900odd kilo mk4 escort/mk2 orion... iirc they are over 1500kgs, so they weigh some 50% more accompanied with the 4wd losses theres nothing more to say really!
Im a real lover of the Mk1 and Mk2 Focus RS, but ive never driven a mk2 so i can't comment on how quick one would be in comparison to a 240bhp escort rs. The ones ive been in and seen driving seem to move well and they sound lovely even as standard!

I think when he 'nodded ready to race', he was just acknowledging the fact you are a massive bellend.

Golf R32s arent that quick - my mate has one and i was not that impressed.

sayin, my bro has Porsche 997 Carrera 4s and when i drove that i was mildly impressed but even then a stage 3 cossie would beat that.

I used to like smashing cossie's in my old focus Rs.

Put a 330 converted focus against any 330 converted Cossie.

If i wanted comfort and class i would not choose a mk2 frs as the car to carry my ass about in the first place id have something a little more special and for that fact alone the older mk4/mk3 escort still to me provide thrills which IMO is why you buy an RS badged car in the first place not so you can bang the air con on and sit in a gay leather seat wanking over your sat nav

And i agree a decent 200 bhp rst will dust a golf r32 with ease my mate has one and its rather pants even he admits that and he's a keen fan of the old vw.

Another thing to be taken into consideration here is the driver, the largest input into how a car performs. That alone can win a race lets face it

As said many times, an R32 is all noise, they sound fantastic! But shamefully slow compared to equivalent cars.
