got both mate and as above st is a spot on daily (5dr for the wife and kids) but just love gettiung in the rs on the weekends

frs mk1 horrid seating position diffs horrible bad build quality and like a bean can
st mk2 very good daily diff lets it down
im in love just fuckin perfect

Mk1 rs will hold its price better, but the mk2 st has a great sound with the 5 pot. Presume performance and tuning potential would be very similar, although probably cheaper to buy parts for the mk1 rs, st is much more common so will get more attention in the rs, but that's not always a good thing. So the choice is not easy taking everything into account
