Default Been Offered an RS1600i -Is it Worth Buying...

Hello, Yesterday i was offered an '83 (A)Reg' White RS1600i for £1800, and initially i thought it was cheap, but after mentioning it to a few people, they dont seem too sure! The story with it was that it was nicked and they took the vin plates. front seats, door rubbers, centre console, and i think that was about it but it was unrecorded. the car comes with front seats full decal set rubbers and a spare set of twin coils etc...bodywork wise it needs a o/s sill and lower rear quarter as its rotten at the rear arch, battery tray and ideally a n/s sill, but comes with new sills.
The crack is, i really want it, but already got a project and little time and space as it is, just wondering if it was an easy bit of profit or worth more doing the worst stuff to it and get an mot on it and keep it or sell?
Any help much appreciated! cheers!, Neil

It doesn't sound expensive, the only thing is once you start repairing it you may find more rot and then get carried away with a full-on restoration.

worth that m8, chasis plates are not a problem as long as its a straight car, just check the floor numbers

hpi the car, ensure the car is genuine first and go from there, theres a buyers guide on the rsoc bb in the 16i section that'll give you enough pointers for checking the car over

Its definitely tempting, i want time to think about it but i dont want to keep the bloke waiting! lol. I HPI every car i buy because its a false economy not to!
The main problem is have is that i dont have the money, time or space to work on it!!
