A car built to fraud insurance premiums..

Suspect, plus it incites the purchaser to insure it incorrectly and potentially get pulled and banned from having insurance.

this is such a bad idea on so many levels.
A guy I work with had his car siezed about a year ago.
The traffic plod were doing ramdon spot checks at the bottom of the road we work on.
The guy I work with was stopped and the vehicle was found to have had a different engine in. The car was siezed and put on a huge articulated trailer they had at the side of the road and he was done for no insurance aswell.
Lesson learnt the hard way.
It only takes something silly to be found out.

I had a car taken off me years ago that had a turbo diesel engine but it was on the logbook as a standard diesel, honestly didnt know it was a turbo diesel because the turbo didnt work !
My 2.0 focus does about 30mpg so theres no way a ST170 will better it !

I had a xe powered nova and got pulled by the traffic cops, insured as a standard 1.2 spin but was a stripped out track car , plastic windows the lot, when they pulled me they asked to see under the bonnet and I was shittin my self but all they wanted to do was check my battery was bolted down proper, never used it much on the road as it was a track car but was a big enough shitter for me to always have my cars insured proper now.
I can see the cheap insurance thing working really well:
"Has your Focus 1.6 been modified in any way?"
"Not really, it's just got a bigger engine, a replacement transmission with an extra gear, uprated suspension and brakes, big alloys, different bumpers, and a different interior."
"Excellent. That will be £9000 thank you."

I insure my fiesta using the rs owners club policy, when I moved to them I faxed them the page and a half of mods I had done. I now email any updates. This has saved my ass with the police at least once as it doesn't have uk plates so I tend to get pulled by the random DVLA checks. As it is ALL legitimate it normally only costs me about 10 to 15 mins.......
what always suprises me is the difference of approach the police have, some times its fairly non commital, some times they are complete A**holes, poking through EVERY bit of the car, documents accuing me of having a ringer etc not accepting my documents and genuinely trying to really upset me, but some times they are Realy nice! ask about the car tell me now nice it is to see a old car like that so sell looked after! It's rolling the dice and hoping it doesn't come up 1!

Nothing dodgy comes back on that registration number on the HPi report, no warnings on that reg what so ever. I think someone wrecked low mile ST170 and decided to transplant it all onto this, its on the HPi as a Ford Focus Zetec 1600 in Grey, i thought they only made ST170s in magnum grey though?
Still weird why you would go to the effort of buying that car then stripping a low mile ST170 to build a 1.6 up to look like one, surely the yearly insurance premium would have been cheaper than buying that focus for its shell and all the hours put in bulding it up?
Weird.

the parts fitted are possibly stripped from a stolen motor. who knows for sure but if insurance premiums werent so rediculous in the first place then people wouldnt resort to dodging.
dodgy set up claims, whiplash lies etc all help to cause the problem.

basically, you either have a 1.6 car with stolen parts, or an st170 with the id numbers off a 1.6 stuck on it
try running a check on the engine number off it (if its still there) and i bet there will be problems.
