Hi peeps
whats the best way to replace the T3 turbos can it be done without taking the exhaust manifold off.
I take it i should get it checked over by the person who mapped it once if fitted it.

I couldnt lose the 2 nuts of the turbo at the engine side, so I took off the manifold with it. Maybe a lot more nuts and bolts, but in the end it saved me a lot of time.
Modified the manifold and turbo afterwards for quick release so in the future no difficulties anymore for me to get the turbo off.

I think i will just try to take the turbo off without taking the manifold off.
If i put my actuator on which was used when my car was mapped. Would it be best to get it checked again.

Glen I have only done a 2wd and it was a piece of piss.I do remember something about stubby spanners though.Hassle removing the manifold but while you are there just check to see if you have lost any studs.Quite common, hmm thinking about that it may 2wd only. You have a mount for the turbo on the head ?.As for snail the turbo comes apart and you can loosen it while its on.Obviously the oil feed has to come off same for coolant pipes. If you are fitting a new/recon turbo make sure you prime it with fresh oil.Always a good idea to get the oil feed primed aswell. If you are using same spec turbo no need change the actuator.I dont know what your using,I had a -34 on mine. When that broke I changed it for a 31 and it felt rubbish. Was a bit livelier on the 34 so back it went to that,22psi on greens and t3 and thats how they should of come off the production line imo not breath taking but perfectly usable

RAX thanks for the info. The car was mapped with a -34 on it.Will fitted the actuator cause my old one was no good.
Ive got a reconned T3 with 360 roller bearing. It says in the instructions to prime the oil which i would of done anyway to save damage to the shaft.
MATT it must take longer than that.
Ive got all my tools at my mams house in the garage and ive got a good selection of spanners including stubby ones.

Take the compressor housing off, then you will get more acces to the two bolts at the engine side. But if they are very tighten like mine were than I think taking off the whole including the manifold is the only solution.
Good luck!
Good luck!
