Default cts stage 2+

Hi just wondering if these just fit straight into a erst 1.6cvh?

And also ive been reading mixed reviews about them and its made me question buying one, i dont really want to put a focus rs box in it or anything that would need modifiying..

When i get my engine from NMS it will be around 300bhp so i dont want to keep spending loads of money and destroying gearboxes!

Thanks, Joe

Dunno how long it'll last with 300bhp though. To be honest, from what I've read an MTX75 from the RS Focus is the only way to be sure, or the six speed Gertrag from the ST170 (which is much more work to fit)

I've done one of these boxes (although a second hand one) in a 230bhp RST. Food for thought....

All depends on how you drive + good luck if it lasts!

Focus RS Box is stronger than the ST170 's

the stage 2 plus will be fine in a 1.6 cvh running that power

as the cvh dont make big lb/ft

but be warned they make the car very twitchy as the car will pull from side to side quite violently due to the atb diff that is fitted in the box when driving hard on un even roads

it gets some getting used to i can tell you that

and as for the comment on better off with a standard box

that would last all of 5 mins lol

Wouldn't bother with the cts 2+ box. I would personally go for an ib5 box with a diff

thats because you most likely spin 1 wheel up taking the stress out of the box a bit

its when the car gripes to hard and over stresses the box when they go tits up

i broke 3 brandnew boxes in my old series 2 in 4 days lol

Mmm interesting, I've got a mk5 diesel box in my car and it's taken loads of shit! I don't drive mad to often but I'll be going round tracks in the summer which I need to drive home after so I need something reliable!

you will be having the same as the 3i box situation

its a mith about the diesel box being stronger by the way if you have been told

the stage 2 plus is a strong box for the cvh and will be good on track
but like i said can make the car a little unpredictable on bumpy roads

Lol, what makes you think that??
I ran a stage 2 box with a genuine 250bhp 1.6cvh for a 3 years.....did manage to break the cwp on the first one but only after 2 years of abuse (track/pod and did brunters with it too), a Ł350 rebuild and all was good again till i broke the car the following year
I went through 3 or 4 other boxes prior to having the cts box and it was definately the best i'd had, though i did find at the time that they weren't great to deal with, namely waiting times way longer than quoted!
Tbh now the mtx is the way to go if you want a strong box and they're not overly expensive either just a bit of work to fit, if it had been a proven conversion back when i had mine i would have bit the bullet and got one fitted

i ran a cts bc box in my zt, with 300/300, done 5th gear after 2 years abuse then had a rebuild, still going strong now 6 years later, atb was ace for track, best bang for buck imo

The cts stage 2+ box is a good box i have one in my s2, am running 210/230 at under a bar of boost and its been great! all depends how you drive it launching won't do it any favours at all as with any gearbox. mine grips in 2nd after a short while lol then pulls hard through all the gears and it loves it.

If your going to be running 300bhp you really need to look into other mods such as the arb, adjustable tca's etc to really get the power down otherwise its useless mate.

I've had a Stage 1 CTS box in my 260bhp S2 RS Turbo for years. Broke 12 boxes until this one and it has, since being fitted, been absolutely faultless despite track days, POD runs and a couple of Brunters visits
