Default 2wd ecu on 4wd car

Hi there
From the experience on here I was wondering if anyone can help. I've got a 4wd shell and gearbox but no engine or engine loom or ecu. Can I run An L6 ecu If I use 2wd tps etc or do I still need the 4wds L8? Also is there any difference between engine looms?
Cos the car is a k reg does that mean lamda sensor etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

L8 (4x4) has lambda sensor and knock sensor on the k reg the engine coolant wire is also on the otherside of the head on the 2wd for the dash gauge . Get a ryan loom and l8 ecu should cost arround Ł 650 .

Thanks. So the 2wd engine loom and stage 3 L6 won't be any good even if I get a 2wd engine

You can do it anyway you want mate.
I have a 3door it's a 4x4 (using full 4x4 late saff engine).
It has a escort cosworth engine loom with an l6 ecu. (the one in 2 parts)
It was running with a 2wd loom and l6 . I stripped back the tape on the loom and extended and redirected certain wires.

That's a great idea thanks. Just saves some cash and the sourcing of parts. Just a 2wd lump to get. I take it I can use either engine just make sure I get things like the 2wd inlet so can use pf01 tps??

Not true, if using L1 or L6 you need PF01 TPS, switching the wires on an 09 won't run the engine properly!

You can use the loom still, but extra inputs like knock sensor, O2 sensor (If applicable) will be surplus, CL and knock sensor will not work with 2WD management.

Thanks Martin, so 2wd L6 with loom and 2wd sensors ( like pf01 ) will run, just no knock sensor or lamda sensor which is ok.
