What is the best method to get 40 year old underseal off of a car and what to replace it with.

Lots of patience and elbow grease fella took me 3 weeks to get all mine off with wire wheel heat gun and scraper. Absolute nightmare but worth it when it all off and clean.

Did the same on my Escos last week, worked nicely till the steamer part broke on the pressure washer! It's like a half stripped patchwork quilt at the mo

The cleaned bits do look super clean though

Whatever you do don't use Waxoil, in my experience it creates water traps and hides/creates more rust than it prevents. I've started using POR15 it's a frost product and is good stuff!

Mine took weeks of a couple of hours here and there at weekends, with a wire woll on a drill/angle grinder! Horrible job, but soooooo worth it once it's done!!

so there isn't really an easy option unless i can get a steam cleaner/jetwash and lots of hard work, whats best to put back on it, the reason i have to strip it is that it has started cracking and will now hold water but can't complain as its been on there since new and never welded.
