When removing the front diff in a cossie, do you have to drain the engine oil also?
Although I have put my car together I have never removed the diff alone, but from what I remember, where the shaft goes through the sump is a sealed section, so it wont be in communication with the diff and the oil wont be released when I remove the diff.
Would just like to check as I have seen various comments on here saying that the oil will come out too???
I dont believe thats true.

You don't need to drain the engine oil it will be separate, the shaft runs in a tube so doesn't come in contact with engine oil. Also the diff oil is contained in the diff as the output shafts have seals.
