Default What are evo's like on fuel?

Know a lot of guys on here have owned them, was wondering what there like on fuel? Ive got an e46 m3 at the mo which does about 19mpg round town. I need to get a 4 door car really as me and the mrs have a baby and its a pain in the ass with a 2 door car, dont wanna have something thats too much worse on fuel though. Id be looking at an evo 8 with stage 1 mods around 380hp. Cheers!

They're bad, but not that bad IME.

I was running Autronic on mine and I used to get around 26mpg on a run and around 18 around town.

Mine is standard. 170 miles to a tank of super. They're better with a re-map!

Nailing it gets me 70-90 miles to a full tank though.....

Worth it right enough!

You guys need to mention how small the damn tank is... lol

My M5 does around 220miles to a tank no bother, so sounds similar to the EVO in that context, but what If I mention it holds £110? That shines a whole new light on it. LOL

Mine is certainly worse than a M3, Tanks are smaller in earlier cars so does'nt help.

if the reason you wanna change is to carry baby around you might want to reconsider a 380bhp super saloon.

i guarantee as soon as the little one's here you wont be wanting to drive it fast

ive had 3 evos and even my 2.3l 500 bhp+ on a stady run 65 to 75 mph on the mway all did over 30mpg

around town depending how you drive it it can be as low as 15mpg

on track then even 5mpg is all you get

all worked out by the proper way ie filling the tank and working out how many liters off fuel ive used by the milage i have done not like most who just take a guess

john

So to do just over 1000 miles in your car you would need about £550? FUCK THAT!!!

My Evo was terrible on fuel no matter how it was driven. If you drove it flatout a tank would see 70 miles. My M3 being thrashed would do the same miles as my Evo being driven like a poof everywhere. So my verdict is terrible. Oh and they are money pits and I'd never own another one. Most un-enjoyable car I have owned and I've had a few.

my old evo struggled to do 150miles to a tank when driving hard 225 motorway cruising

the escos did 160 to a tank

our hawkeye scoob does around 200 to a tank and is roughly £65 to fill
and thats running a finch motorsport forged engine around 400bhp

Agree there no point buying these sort of cars, Impreza, M5, Evo, RS4 etc
if your worried about mpg.

The drive more than makes up for it imo. as well as the practicality big boot, relatively comfertable depening on suspension set up and the tunable 4G63.

Had mine for 2 years longest car I have ever kept mainly due to it's reliabilty dont plan on selling mine anytime soon.

My sisters evo 8 was shocking, but saying that it was the same as my brothers sti so I suppose in context its normal, it was a boggo 260bhp evo8, she went to new zealand for a month so I had it while she was away, was using it every day.......... for about a week then it was just left for when I finished work lol.

Like stu says the tanks are very small and they are very thirsty, but for handling through the twisties I can't think of a better way to waste your money, such good fun.

Same as the short fella, i ran Autronic on mine and it was 26mpg ish and very low when my heavy right foot went down, just lay off the ALS and LC ....

As Stu has also said they have small tanks, i would rather fuel that then my RS4, thats fucking thirsty

Mike

Mate for the price that they are going for at the minute, I've had one or two moments where I've been fractionally tempted by one. But when you price up actually living with it, make no bones about it I really CANNOT afford to run one even if nothing breaks on it just running it will literally eat my money away.

A lad I know has a 2004, wrx wagon running an LPG conversion. Last time I looked LPG was 75p a litre. The conversion cost around 1100 notes he reckons he'll make his money back in under 2 years.
