Default Anyone else fed up of fuc*ing cars!!!

Does anyone else just feel like giving up with owning any sort of vehicle?

I have a escort van for work and an xr3i and both have a good few problems!

Van needs 2 new front tyres, rear engine mount is fooked, has a leak in pass footwell. The headlight wouldnt work on main beam so i had a fiddle now ive lost all my lights on the drivers side front and back!!!!

Car has problems with lights aswell due to a bad earth somwhere (i think)
Developed a running problem which i think is due to the earth aswell!!!

Too be honest both have been good to me since ive owned them. Especially the van as it never really goes wrong and has a lot of hammer and had it nearly 5 years paid £750 for it and gets used everyday!
I was thinking of getting a newer one but just had £250 worth of sign writting done so i think i'll stick with it for abit longer!

Fed up with the car as ive spent a fortune on it and since ive had it back it refuses to work!

Anyway just needed a rant and rave and wanted too see if anyone else is in the same boat Lol. There is a thread for my car problem so if anyone can help it would be REALLY appriciated!

Yep, which is why I don't fuck about with em anymore. 4 years now and modding urge free. When I do get a decent car again, I certinately won't be throwing money away on it again like I used to.

Its not the money side that gets to me (even tho i have none lol) Just seems to be when one thing goes wrong other problems seem to follow very quickly!

Oh and as i was on the way to the scrapyard to see if i could get a few bits i my window winder snapped off all of is so have to get a whole mechanism

I can live with the car going wrong as i don't need it but when the van fucks up i have no money as im self employed!

Yep ages ago, although i bought a bog standard 306 gti6 its still the same as it should be, id normally have had it lowered with a upgraded exhaust fitted at the least lol

Not any more, its as it should be bar what it actually needs which is a droplink, driveshaft which ive sourced second hand and it will get a fresh service soon

Get in and drive it and leave the fucker alone

I can do that with my daily driver but i think thats just because i've got something else to mess around with. If i didn't i think i'd end up messing with my daily car, just because i enjoy it most of the time. Admittedly now and again i get pissed off but it doesn't stop me.

The only way to stop me messing with cars is locking me in a pub or a room with loads of fit birds.

yes, my daily run around is a BMW, I used to work in London and I will never to this day know how the man at the BMW garage said "we only charge £100 per hour here" with out laughing or peeing himself. - I was 200 miles from home so couldn't fix it myself...........

Make a list of what needs doing and what parts you need to do each job. Prevention rather than cure. I had a load of things wrong with one of mine, i just got all the bits together and spent the day on it. If you don't want to hammer it all in a day, take a day to take it apart and put it all back together the next, taking your time.
While i was at it i dropped the oil etc...Get it all out of the way, if something comes up unexpected you can deal with it objectively.

its all part of it for me. it breaks you fix it, you want to make it better put in the time and then when everything is going well enjoy it. problems add character to any car its only ennoying if you let it get to you.

best fun i ever had was driving an escort that i bought for 300 euros. if it didnt work didnt matter, wanted to eat chips in it did it, use the tow bar as a parking aid that kind of thing.
just buy something you wont care for cheap untill it breaks proper and while your relaxed dogging the shitter focus on the other car as a hobbie rather then a mode of transport.

Hilarious thread, i had 440bhp and running perfectly fine i then had a bright idea of fitting a GT30 and now 18 months on and over £10k later i'm still buying new parts to finish it

I really should have bought the Audi A4 S-line i wanted for my daily and left the toy well alone

Ive played this game too many times, i cannot leave a car alone, it usually starts with simple lowering of a sensible amount, which then soon causes knocks and bangs, which leads to £200 worth of suspension arms, roll bar links, bushes and bearings, all to fix one part, and then exhaust went.

Currently playing the game at the moment with the wifes Focus, dodgy steering, replaced a few hundreds worth of parts already on her problem still present!

Agree with this, i went through lowering springs, which lowered the car unevenly, then burst the standard shock absorbers after 3 months, so i purchased new uprated shock absorbers, id spent £220 by this point including drop links, in the end i bought a complete coilover kit for £190 and it sat even, handled 100 times better and looked 100 times better, id basically wasted about 2 months and £220 and got no where but aggrivation !

Don't do it!

I did that on mine and found the inner wing was shot. Wished I had never bothered with the snorkel in the end because I spent a month of weekends welding!

Cant imagine myself ever not being into cars TBH

If one frustrates me I tend to just leave it for a while and come back to it, no point letting them make you unhappy when its supposed to be a hobby.
