Default HELP gauges playing up!

As per usual in the mornings I start the car, let it run for several minutes then head off to work. It wasn't till I got to the motorway that I noticed the oil gauges were the same as when cold, temperature very low and pressure high (5bar). Pulled over and when the car idled the pressure dropped to the correct point on the gauge as when cold but the car was warm?
Any one else heard of this or know why?

Thanks.

Pull the KAM fuse resets it or plug in your DS handset and read the DTC's,it wont show any codes but once you clear the "no" codes it works again no problem

Supposed to be quite a common fault, don't worry about it. Starting it up and let it tick over from cold is doing the most damage, just get in and drive it carefully until it's warm.

Could try a map sensor, had a similar fault with an ST a couple of years ago, was cured by fitting new map sensor.

Those gauges don't actually read directly from individual temp/map sensors, their readings are calculated via other sensors/data in the ECU and the information goes to the gauges via CAN.

Yes, the engine produces very little heat when idling. The longer an engine is cold for, the longer the oil is thick and not lubricating properly and an engine is running out of it's tolerances for longer, thus causing more engine wear. Also the plugs will get sooted up from the overly rich mixture. Best thing is to jump in and drive from cold without putting too much load on the engine until it's warmed up.
