2.0L zetec turbo into 1929 model A truck
I'm currently building an old daily screamer! Far from new into this kind of build, my last 2 retros were a 5.0L mk1 cortina and a 1.6 cvh turbo 1958 100E....My other current ride is a 1947 ford coupe.
My collection of parts is almost complete for this ones build with the following already bought.
2.0L zetec blacktop
MT75 sierra gearbox
Fiesta turbo loom, ECU etc
T3 turbo with my own adaptor plate
Rover 820 inlet with my own adaptor plate
Stage 2 superchip
Various injector sizes
My question.....
I'm looking to lower the compression ratio using a compression plate. I'm after feedback from readers as to 2 head gaskets or 1 with high temp sealant, and what material to use for the decompression plate, s/s or aluminium?
Are there any build ups on here with photos, and what life expectancy can I expect of head gaskets if fuelled right running 1bar of boost?
Will be a fun build looking for 250bhp+ whilst weighing a mere 600kg
Thanks, Scott

have a search for ferriday engineering. he'll do you a copper one the thickness you req at prob not much more than 2 decent gaskets/plate. any pics of this?

Photos to follow. Still at the chassis stage with suspension almost finished and engine/gearbox mocked up in situe
If you use the layered zetec head gasket you can replace the centre layer with a thicker decomp plate. Use a small amount of sealant. Done 1.8 and 2.0 engines without a problem. But a decomp plate isn't the best way to boost a zetec.

Sounds like a plan. I've also been looking for shorter compatible conrod lengths etc to see if there's a way to go that hasn't been explored yet.....
Planning to run the 1/4 mile at Hot Rod Drags 2012 all being well
Here's the mock up of the engine in place a while ago.

Side on view with chassis sorted and front suspension in place, 4 bar about to go on the rear.

Here's my other current ride, a 1947 Ford Coupe with a 5.7 chevy V8

My old 100E. Where is it now?

My old 5.0L mk1 cortina after the guy I sold it to painted it

Alternatively silvertop rods can be modified too.
Ebay here I come, but in the meantime I do have a set of silvertop rods and pistons but the shells have spun on the rods, so no good to use, but perfect to machine and play with to see what I can achieve!
Thanks Danny, it was. I built and owned it for 7yrs. Sold it when my first born came along. Ran a 1.6cvh with hybrid turbo, chipped with 17psi of boost, through a capri gearbox and anglia rear axle. Narrowed 2.8 capri front suspension etc. Rs 500 cossie 16's. MAD best describes it.
I sold it on, and I think the guy I sold it to did so too, but where did it end up?

I understand this was covered in a fastcar or fastford mag a year or so ago if anyone knows which one, please let me know so I can buy unless you can send me a scan of it.
What bore are S3 pistons?
I am looking out for rs rods and pistons.

Been a while since I last posted!
Went for a decompression plate in the end to lower the compression. I've made my own trumpet manifold to mount a turbo cvh exhaust manifold upside down, the same as I did in my 100E, and an ali conversion plate to mount the rover 820 inlet.ARP rod bolts fitted and well underway with making up a 5 link for the rear.
