Default who is signed to ford for the wrc?

I thought with Hirvonen gone to Shitroen Sebastien Ogier was due to join ford as the number 1. Just heard that sebastien has signed to VW and is taking a year out to develop the polo r wrc for 2013.

so whose going to take the second seat at ford?

Yep he is at VW !

Taken from Autosport.

Sebastien Ogier will join the Volkswagen team in the World Rally Championship following his exit from Citroen, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Frenchman left Citroen a year before of the end of his contract to make way for Finn Mikko Hirvonen, who will partner eight-time world champion Sebastien Loeb from next year.

Ogier is joining Volkswagen effective immediately.

The 27-year-old will be helping shape the development of the Polo R WRC for Volkswagen's planned entry in 2013.

The move means Ogier is set to miss the 2012 WRC season while he works on the development of the car.

"Volkswagen is the number one in Europe and will soon be number one in the world," said Ogier. "I"m sure that they"re going to compete with the goal of clinching the WRC title. And I'm happy to be part of this from the outset."

Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen added: "We are proud that such a successful and quick duo as Sebastian Ogier and his co-driver Julien Ingrassia have decided to join Volkswagen.

"The aim of putting a competitive Polo R WRC on the road for them as quickly as possible will additionally drive our team. We look forward to working with them and are hoping for many victories and titles in the future."

Petter Solberg is my favorite driver in WRC, he's friendly, down to earth, and very entertaining.
Probably why Kev wants to marry him.

think Petter will stay with Citreon as looks like no kimi for them in 2012,
will leave ford with Latvalla no 1 then i think either Osterberg, Tanak, Wilks or Mikilessen as poss no 2's at ford although i could see mikilessen as Ogiers no2 at VW ?? no3 at ford will be a payed drive possibly for Al Qassami then M-sport running cars for Henning, osterberg, tanak (if they dont get works car) Prokop, Block and Breen and matthew wilson dropping down to IRC in a S2000 fiesta

Prokop runs his own car and not sure why they'd take Mads Ostberg on as a works driver if he's paying money to be run by M-Sport already.

No chance of Mikkelsen signing for anyone now hes back at skoda was announced at start of week. I think you won't hear msport doing any deals until they find out if ford is backing them next year. If petter doesn't get a deal he said he wouldn't be doing it as its to costly

why all the matthew wilson hating? the kid is still a serious talent, even if he cant mix it with the more experienced guys in better equipped cars up ahead!

its a shame that people cant support a young british driver, really is.

Yeah Not confirmed but with there talk of stobart pulling out which isnt surprising with all job cuts it would be a decent move for him.

He's certinaly a quick driver. Be good to see the times between him and meeke next year if hes still there at ford

Matt Wilson is a great driver just a shame he can't mix it with the top guys would be great to see

Ford are meant to be doing World Touring Cars next year, Abu Dhabi's sponsorship of the WRC team has ended, not sure what their deal looks like for next year?

Yeah heard they lost abu dhabi sponsor think that will be a big hit for them.. Don't think msport know if ford is giving them backing for next year yet.

If the quick british drivers that are out there the now were put in the position wilson was it would have been good to see.David Bogie,Craig breen, Alister fisher, Marty McCormack and elfyn evans are a few brits that spring to mind

Alastair was out on IRC Scotland and did pretty well considering he dropped time over two stages because of a broken driveshaft.

Went out with him in a S2000 Fiesta a few weeks back, insane!

It looks like he will be in the WRC in 2012 due to his acadmey win with a brand new S2000 or customer WR car as his old S2000 car is up for sale on M-sport website
