Default focus running problem

Rite guys my focus has developed a running fault.

The car will tickover fine but when you try rev the car nothing happens at first it hesitates then will rev up,same when driving if you come off the throttle then back on nowt happens at first then it will splutter and pop and bang?? Its also quite bad when you corner or come round a round about then try to accelerate, its as if its running out of fuel so was wondering if my pump could be on its way out or anybody have any other ideas?

Cheers

I know I haven't got a Focus but I had similar problems and it turned out to be a fuel pump.

Sounds like you've had a lot of problems since day one with this car mate

As said, check fuel pump and basics such as plugs etc.

Does the car still have a air flow sensor? My boggo 1.2 daily corsa had a similar running issue and it was the MAF.

Why another tuner? Why can't you take it back to mark?

Because I've already been to mark my self, it was mapped with a boost problem and just left no fault finding etc tried. So im not prepared to travel the distance again with fuel cost etc for the same to happen again.

hello mate ,the reason i asked was because my focus does the same below half a tank, apparently the swirl pot cracks giving the same symptoms .i still need to change mine but at the moment keeping above half a tank erradicates the issue.

If it was mapped by Mark, how did it leave with an obvious boost problem? Wouldn't think or anyone else would be silly enough to leave the premises with a popping and spluttering car on boost.

As for it running below the fuel mark, I wouldn't think they're that black and white or tempremental. Mine ran well under the red several times

No it never left marks popping etc that's only just started lol. The boost fault it left marks is it will hit 2bar of boost but when car reaches 5k revs boost drops dramatically.

Have you checked the chip connection? if it has one fitted

I had one in last week from a very well known tuner that still had laquer covering the chip connection causing all sorts of running issues!

Is your charging ok mate? i had something similar before on a friends car when the alternator wasn't charging causing popping and banging.
Or how about your tps, havent you changed your inlet and throttle body doe's your tps not need setting up.
Are you still on autronic management can you not plug it into a laptop and check for fault codes?

Just a few ideas mate i might be way off the mark but worth a try befor you break it ha ha

Have you don't the basic fault test on the dash? Pressing the trip button as you turn the key, it brings up the list of DTC codes. Have a look at what code it is and I'll tell you what it means.

It reads off the ecu which in turn reads the sensors... So unless his sittings can send the same setting to the digital display If it reads then I can't see it working.

Exactly! Who knows how its been fitted, so at least try it and then rule it out. Then onto the next bright idea

Aaaaaaaanyway.....

Right pal, all those codes have a meaning, so don't worry. Right, so press the button and turn the key as you did and fire it up, the clocks will do a whole gauge sweep and then you let go of the trip button. Every time you press the button, you'll come across boost pressure, digital rev counter, battery volts etc. etc.

So what you do now is press the button and go through the list until you come across a dtc flashing with a number/code straight after it.

What number is it?
