Mondeo tdci p2337 injector issues
Okay so I was driving my mondeo to work the other day, nice start, plenty of power then all of a sudden the glow plug light starts flashing *ugh* and nearly all power is gone. So I pull over and restart the car but the flashing glow plug is still there, now I'm pissed. So I take it to my garage and he gets a diagnostics and the fault code was p2337 cylinder 2 knock threshold reached or something, but just to be sure he sent it to pyes (ford dealer) and they confirmed this for £80 and so my mechanic gets on with fitting another injector into cylinder 2 and yes he tried to recode it before and has done it once the new one has been installed. I got a call from him today saying that the new injector is in and it's still f****d. Apparently the car is hard to start runs like a dog and there is lots of smoke... I didn't have the car long enough after the fault to announce many symptoms. So anyway my car is going back to pyes because they have given us false info but now I'm getting extremely short of money and am beginning to get quite upset... Could anyone shed some light on what is probably the cause please, any information given will be wonderful, thankyou.
I've got similar problems mate. mines been in 3 times and every time a different fault. It runs perfect once the faults cleared then 6 months later starts to play up. The guy at Ford says he gets loads like it!
Hmmm well iv decided thT I'm going to fix it, if it breaks again in any unreasonable time then I'll go it again and sell it. But yeah I have to fix it first... Any ideas on what could be causing the problem?
For anyone who is having a similar problem, my mechanic just rang and said that he has recoded all the injectors and apparently it is totally fine now, no warning lights and goes like shit of a shovel so happy days. Lets hope the new injector keeps me going until i can afford a full set.

Glad you got sorted the Mondeos are great but when they go wrong!!
I had the same fault with mine and eventually got all the injectors reconditioned and recoded and-I havnt had any injector issues since(Ive only done around 7000 miles}
but i have replaced dmf water and power steering pump and I am presently trying to sort out the turbo!-ah the joys of motoring

you need to wait till dan the mondeo man comes on and see's this, but if i remember correctly, he had 2 injectors that were coded etc but it turned out to have been the wrong codes which is why it wasn't running right
the codes are apparently the injector opening times or something so need to be very accurate for the ecu to work them properly, hence the problems

Good point yourself and dan were a great help when i was tryingTo get mine sorted,i also changed the crankshaft and cam position sensor

My mondeo tdci is very pooly atm, NO FAULT CODES but its running on 2 cylinders only (3&4), tested both ecus , changed around and recoded the injectors but still only running on 2 cylinders (running on cylinders 3&4 only) . the nord light produced a low level glowing light( dunno if thats correct for a diesel?) gonna check the cam carrier next , apparently they break for fun!
Any help very welcome

Heard before if you have a black cam position sensor its more than likely faulty and you should change it for a new grey one, there cheap and only take 2minutes to change there right at the front of the engine with 1 ten ml bolt
Around 30 euro,i also took out the crank position sensor and cleaned it

No surprise ... usual thing, driving along at 70 .. put foot down and flashing glow plug lamp and engine dies... onto the hard shoulder... This happened 6 times between london and birmingham.
So I tootle home at 50 google the problem and order myself a crankshaft and a camshaft sensor as I suspected these were the culprit.
when taking off the engine cover i noticed that the words going to the rail pressure sender on the LHS of the rail were damaged .. inside the protective sleeving!!!
i could see the engine cover had been chafing... so i repaired and sleeved ..
replaced both sensors and cleaned out the EGR while i was there...
Tried to start it.. and nothing... just spinning over ...
checked fuses .. all ok..
in frustration replaced old sensors .... still nothing.. I'm getting a bit miffed by now.. call a mechanic mate who comes with posh snap on and bluepoint analysers ... no fault codes... hmm
Put new sensors back in and checked all wiring ... tightened earths ...still nothing ..
next day decided to try old sensors again...
when i was removing the new crankshaft sensor i noticed that to has about 4,mm movement in and out of the location hole. because the bracket is slotted,
I put the old sensor in and pushed it in as far as it would go ..
car started first crank.,..!!!!!
I then out the new sensor in and did the same .. pushing it fully in..
Nothing,... would not start.
So it seems i had a faulty NEW crankshaft sensor and that the in / out positioning of the crankshaft position sensor is far more critical than i had seen highlighted on here. Hope this helps someone.... my car is noww smooth as silk.. I am just waiting for my first hot motorway run.. to finally check the problem has gone..

I had the same problem last year. Spent a fortune on ford dealer diagnosis, and they wanted me to replace everything.
I broke down in a small village and a lady brouhgt me out a cup of coffee, unbelievably broke down in the same place 2 days later, no coffee this time. Next day, I changed the cam position myself after reading about it somewhere. No problems since then.
