Default duratec 2.5 swop

hey all, joined recently, i have a mk1 cortina and im deciding on the engine upgrade. thinking of the st duratec 2.5 as its all alloy and easy to tune and i havent seen many put in old fords.
my questions are:
does it fit the mazda gearbox and how much longer is it than a 4 cylinder.
iv done engine swops before so not worried about the fabrication.
cheers
niall
