Default 03 Fiesta Ghia remote boot lock problem

Hi

My wife's remote book lock (operated by the switch on the dashboard) has stopped working.

I took the boot panel off and the actuator does appear to move, but not enough to open the lock.

I took the actuator off and put 12v across it and it seems operate satisfactorily ie pulls the rack (which in turn pulls the boot lock cable) in fine, although it wasn't under any load (ie pulling anything)

However when I operate it off the dashboard switch, it doesn't seem to have enough oomph to open it and only moves a small distance.

Is it likely to be a faulty actuator or could there be a relay problem? Because the actuator does actually move when you press the switch I would have thought it wasn't that.

Any advice?

Regards
Keith

If the switch works then it's fine and so you would need to point the finger at the actuator

Close the boot lock with the boot open and see what happens as the action should be fairly "violent"

Sorry to drag up an old post but did u manage to fix your problem Stormyk? I have exactly the same issue on my 07 Fiesta, actuator moves but with no real power, not enough to unlock the boot. My suspicion was the actuator needs replacing but wondered if there could be another solution (relay?)
Thanks
