Hello there. The very first thing you need to do is join your local motorclub. I don't know where you are from but I would imagine your local town/city has one. For rallying you need a non race national B license to start off with. Next, sign up to the british rally forum www.britishrally.co.uk for help and advice, you also get to know all the dates and stuff for every event that happens in the uk. Its difficult to reccomend a championship without knowing your budget (rallying is ultra expensive), but there are loads to choose from. I think to start off I'd maybe take up a bit of road rallying, as you can use your standard road car (provided its a 4 cylinder with forced induction), but I'd reccomend a sump guard at the very least. If road rallying doesn't sound like your cup of tea, I'd try some simple single venue rallies, just to get the feel of the sport. Best thing to do is go to your local motorclub, get yourself signed up, and talk to competitiors to see about championships and events. Hope that helps, anything else you need to know, just ask, or pm me if you want.

Road rallying is a great way to start, and i know a lot fo the top boys prefer it over stageing.
As GJH will probably vouch, Merion Evans of wales motorsport fabrication is big into his road rallying, and has a monster pinto'd 4 door mk2.
Its very competitive and cracking fun, from there on, as said, its single venues, and anything after that is £££££££££££££.

Start saving. Buy the time you've bought the junk from the MSA, and done the test etc, you'll have spent £400. Then there's helmet, overalls and all that to consider. That's before you've even thought about a car.

It's an expensive game sadly!

Road rallying is the way to go, join your local motorclub and get your papers, then the fun of preparing your car, protons are a good choice. im a member of my local motorclub, and my dad rallied for 13 years. People say stage rallying is boring, so road rallying is the way to go, good luck

people who say stage rallying is boring are just there to make up the numbers when your battling with a couple of people and theres seconds init going into a stage its not boring believe me.... as has been said join your local motorclub look at what you wanna do drive/ co-drive maybe go and marshal a few rallys around your area speak to the lads/women in the service area ask questions we dont bite we will point you in the right direction you have to look at your budget aswell dnt just think to yourself yeah ive got say £6000 im gonna buy a decent rallycar make sure you can afford to repair anyting if and when it will break can i afford tyres fuel all the stuff that goes with the territory just remember if you rally you will never have anyspare money its a fact prepare to be skint all the time but the buzz you get from rallying is worth every penny
