TYRES.. what tyres do you use, whats peoples views on the main brands??
ive just been looking for a set of four new tyres for my rs2k 4x4, im swaying towards yoko paradas...but i know everyone has their prefered faves...whats yours??
yoko?
toyo?
dunlop?
i have hankook ventus s1 evo's on my mk7 fiesta, they are a good tyre, plenty of grip in dry and wet decent all rounder and fairly reasonable on the pocket!!
be interesting in knowing what you guys use!!

Land Rover Discovery

On my cars I tend to use Toyo T1-R and have always thought they were pretty decent for a road tyre. Some love em, some hate em.
Ive had Goodyear Hydragrip too and they were pretty good, especially in good old british weather.

yeah a lot of people i know go with the toyo's, but ive never had them where as i have had yoko's and was always happy with them!!
as for goodyears they just seem really pricey!

I have yoko parada spec2, I have had them to the point were they are so soft and grippy you can push you nail into the rubber, on the downside they are supposed to be shit in the rain, I dont drive like a loony in the rain so i like them a lot.

I use continental sport contact 5's, not found a better tyre yet. Had uniroyal rainsports for a few weeks thought they were awful, way too soft sidewalls so car felt really floaty and handling was all over the shop. Never knew a tyre could make such a difference to the way a car drove!

its amazing just what difference that they do make, a mate of mine put a full set of budgets on his evo VIII fq340 i think he had them on for 3 days and then went and paid out for a decent set because of the complete lack of feeling he felt from the car.. totally unbalanced.. i think that what puts me off going even mid range for any sort of performance car, always gotta to have good tyres and a good set of stoppers!!
i got some avon zv2's for my car just for the funky tread pattern
turned out they grip spot on wet or dry so stuck with them. better than the cack that it had when i bought it. now have zv3's.

I find a LOT of people who recommend tyres actually have no clue what a good tyre is
Also cars leave the factory with certain tyres in mind from the manufacturer, ie side wall stiffness etc etc, so something as close to OEM as possible will be good
I had Toyo's once, very grippy ( in the dry ) but shit soft sidewalls made them a bit odd approaching the limit and lost a good bit of steering feel/sharpness, altho that was a fwd car

i had a set of prada spec 2's fitted to my puma in july to take on track for rs combe.
in the dry on the road they are pretty good tbh, in the wet it does understeer a fair bit and can be unsettling.
on track they seemed to grip ok for a road tyre, but the fucking noise they made was approaching unbearable lol

i have these as well on my r5gtt, iv had toyos and yokos before and honestly these are in a whole different league dry grip is out this world and wet grip is the best iv known on a road tyre
if yours is running stock wheels and 195/50/15 tyres then go for Toyos as they suit the escort 4x4 very well, but if running bigger wheels like 17s then I would forgot yokos etc as 4x4s eat them like sweets I run kumhos on my 4x4

Took me a few days to get used to them. But I really couldn't wait to get the Pirelli P-Zero Nero's off!!! Never EVER recommend them. They made my car pull whatever direction if I drove/touched a white road marking!
Or
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 if you cant get the Uniroyal
Two of the Best out there i use both and have tried others but these give the best results on my cars.
Ive had rainsport 1 and 2s and been very impressed by both.
Never been a fan of the toyos, very soft in the sidewall and no real upsides.
I tried goodyear eagle gsd3 and they were very noisy, wore quickly and coped terribly with and standing water. The compound was great in the damp but find a puddle and you'd had it.
Kumho KU31s are hard to beat for the money, a little less outrigt grip than the goodyears but on a daily more than made up for by the water dispersal.
Ive just got a set of Hankook S1 Evos as my mate recommended them. Not convinced they will handle snow as well as the rainsports but that should be a few weeks away yet I hope!

Got Khumo's on the A3. . . They've lasted forever, really hard wearing tire
Goodyear Eagle F1's on the Orion zetec turbo ( the front ones just dont grip
)
Nankangs on the other Orion. Seem good in all weathers and hard wearing.
I've had Toyo's on my old Scooby but wasn't impressed with them for the Money.
Had Ventus's on my other Scooby and thought they were really good for the money.
I also think Falken's arn't bad for the money. Only my opinion

Fuck that Glenn,I only ever put good tyres on the saph, they're the only thing between you and the road. Need to get some tyres for my RL7's and was thinking about falken 452's if I cant get vredesteins.
i loved the grip of goodyear eagle F1's good in the corners, but out right grip wasn't the best and in the wet were pretty poor.
toyo t1r's are pretty good in dry and ok in wet as you'd expect, cornering is a little weak due to soft sidewalls.
all depends what you intend to use the car for, i've had a few sets of toyo's as i find them a fair compromise for the money.
p.s. rainsport2's are pretty good in the wet/damp, not the best grip in the dry though (so i fit them on the rears).

Toyo Proxes CF1 i got for my refurbed standard xr3i lattice wheels. Cost £31 per tyre brand new, and tbh they seem pretty damn good. Very good dry grip and impressive wet grip, especially under braking!
Did a track session at Ford Fair and they seem to roll on the sidewall a little where it isnt noticed on the road, but they are 185/55/14 so most tyres will keel over at that!
Wear seems good too, driven quite hard 65% of the time and just over half tread used in about 8k miles before i swapped front-to-back. Didn't scrub the shoulder off on track too much either when all things considered. Felt fairly sticky to the touch afterwards too. Standing water isn't a problem in a 3i with em on, neither is snow tbh.
Not too smoky either, which can be handy!

I'd highly recommend falken fk452's as a daily tyre! I run them on my st tdci and can't fault them.
Had 3 sets of them now, they are reasonably priced and grip well in both wet and dry....I was actually supprised just how good they are in the wet.
Another major bonus for me was the reduced road noise and increased ride comfort over the factory fit sport contact 2's
Also they last forever and wear nice and even.
I run nexen ns6000's on the saff and they are excellent!...really grippy in the dry!...was going to fit parada's but was recommended these instead, not cheap but well worth it.

Hello
I'm French with Escort T25 1995 250 hp.
I'd highly recommend Hankook k105s for fast road.
Very good dry grip, wet grip and braking after 300 miles bedding.
Low prices in France700€/±600£. In England?

They are without doubt the worse tyres i've ever owned. You could do 5 gear burnouts with about 200hp!
