I'm in need of help please??
My dads 57 plate Mondeo tdci won't start from cold. As normal you do your normal turn key so glow plugs light up wait for them to go out (about 15 seconds when engine cold) then try to start the engine turns over fires then dies after not even a second? But when you get it going and engine has run when you start it later glow plugs go of as soon as it comes on and starts fine. Changed the diesel filter then would not start rac man said it was no pressure in fuel pump but but after he left we bump started it and ran and runs fine any suggestions would be brill! Some days she will start on key from cold (after about 10 attempts )

 

Injectors are knackered, well maybe one or two of them. need to be coded or something. not cheap.

 

But it runs fine no real bad smoke a bit but not a lot only when put foot down surely would not run fine when started could it be anything else?

 

I am not a mechanic but I has a similiar problem and intially I cleaned EGR valve where it was fine for a bit and then replaced it with a new one.You could try that it's not to difficult to dismantle,clean and refit.
