anyone know what causes them to bend? is it a engine replacement?

 

Has it been driven through a puddle,and sucked up water

 

Agreed probably water ingestion .

 

Too much boost can bend rods too, but most likely to be water, either from a puddle as suggested, or head gasket leak?

 

too much fuel/too much boost causes knock which causes bendings

my 2.2 20vT 5 pot motor is limited by bottom end torque as that bends rods from shit setups causing detting/knocking and subsequently bent rod that then exits the block without warning

 

Was it remapped?

 

usually injector problems on vw to much fuel and they hydraulic and bend rods is it a t5 there most common

 

thanks guys, its a 115bhp bora pd engine, the turbo let go on it a few weeks back, theres two rods bent from what i can see

 

set light to it send it down the scrappy

 

VERY common on the 20vt VAG lumps when your running big torque.

Sounds like that to mee if it hasnt sucked up water

 

it sounds like it has run on on its own oil,was the turbo changed?if so did you clean out intercooler etc?

 

When is water been sucked up normally does number 1 rod.

 

When the turbo goes it can hydraulic the engine with oil.

Heard of one a few months ago which had an injector stick open and the engine hydrolocked on it??
