Default Recommend me a laptop for mapping

I'm after a cheap laptop with a serial port for mapping or at least attempting to

What should I look out for or is it just a case of getting the best spec I can with a serial port?

if it's dealing with comms over a serial port, it hardly needs to be a cutting edge super computer

if that is literally all you want it for, go for something robust. if it's a general use one then you have more to take into consideration.

Already own 2 decent spec ones, this one will literally be for mapping and programming my race dash.

Sounds good! Battery life is something I'd overlooked!

i've got an old compaq armada kicking about that i'd let go for peanuts, but think the battery is dead so you'd have to run it off an inverter.
